I smell a whole lot of new age, touchy-feely BS coming from that website.
Not to start a "my program is the best" flamewar, but it all comes down to calories in < calories out. Eat sensibly and exercise regularly (using weights and doing cardio). The weight will slowly, but surely, come off and stay off.

Slow and steady wins the race. We learned about it from Aesop in 1st grade!Blonde Stranger wrote:I smell a whole lot of new age, touchy-feely BS coming from that website.

Here is my thought on the diet thing........its a ploy. As long as you eat 5-7 fruits and vegetables a day, 3 meals, and don't eat crap, do this along with exercise(cardio and weights). The weight will come off and get you in shape. Also eat sensible snacks between meals.
My whole world lies waiting behind DOOR #3! In the meantime, I am just sippin' on a margarita.........

here is what I do along with another one of my buffett cronies... we get buff for buffett.... it takes the immediate gratification of food all away.... we work towards the summer shows and travels.
this works the best....and I have owned a women's health club and two separate diet franchises.... k.i.s.ph!!

Why the eye roll? 1-2 lb per week is the rate you want to lose weight at which minimizes the risk that you'll gain it all back. Anything more is not sustainable. The seemingly incredible amounts of weight initially lost on Atkins, South Beach and other no carb diets is water loss, not fat loss. I'm not trying to bash those diets, it's just that any diet that promises anything more than slow, steady weight loss, really is too good to be true.ragtopW wrote:My doc wants me to go slow and not drop very fast
he seems to think that there is less a chance of
my jumping back up. My doc wante me down
to about 250.. the health care sweety from my
insurance co. says 210 yeah right. she also wants me to
weight lift now thats a great idea![]()
Weight training is essential to raising your metabolism 24/7. Each pound of lean muscle that you put on burns 50 calories per day just to maintain itself. Cardio helps with cardiovascular health and endurance, but it does not really build muscle.
Sorry that it seems like I'm getting on a soap box, but what your health care providers are telling you is sensible advice.
Well thats true about the weight lift the issue us I have like 20 inch bicepsBlonde Stranger wrote:Why the eye roll? 1-2 lb per week is the rate you want to lose weight at which minimizes the risk that you'll gain it all back. and a 50 inch chest, I don't wanna get any larger, at all
I am swimming and using the eliptical (sp) machine but I gain
size like crazy my last job all I did was haul pallets around and
I gained about an inch in the arms and chest and shoulders
thats why the eye roll if it will help I am willing I just do not
need to bulk up. thanks for the help and btw I agree on the fad diets
moderation is the key. also its funny to me that the lady that has never
seen me wants me to do things and to weigh way less than my doc
who has checked me out I'm kinda like Cartman "I'm not fat I'm big boned"
my meals and measure my liquid intake and that is what my DR
says will take to get me any less than about 245, so I do have my work cut out, also I have just fixed my sleep issues I now have energy
to do things and that won't hurt the bike is in the shop and that will
help. the eye roll was for the lady on the phone who is going by a chart
not looking at me and saying hey this chart might not be right once in
a while.

You're absolutely right. According to BMI charts, Michael Jordan is considered obese!
You're one of the fortunate few that has an easy time of gaining muscle mass. I'm like that too (my whole family is that way), but unfortunately I'm a girl so if I go harder on the weights than I already am I'll start looking like Chyna from WWE
Not exactly the look I'm going for.
