I've tried both the jerk and the lime, got them at Sams. I would suggest both be served with rice as both create a nice sauce. I wok them then put them over rice. The jerk is spicy, the lime is more mild, but nice. As for fresh shrimp, unless you are getting it right off the boat the frozen shrimp is better then the stuff you may find inland at your grocery. The shrimp coming off the boat is sold locally for consumption, or immediately frozen, so the freshness is preserved.

I like the jerk shrimp best. Nice and spicy!!
Agree with earlier post that it's best with rice, as the shrimp makes its own sauce.
Coconut shrimp is tasty, but a bit sweet. I felt like I was eating shrimp rolled in cookie crumbs!
Agree, fresh is better, but jerk shrimp in 10 minutes is d*mned convenient!!!! Ideal for either an appetizer or a small meal.

I am probably in the minority, but I will never buy any of this Margaritaville crap...be it shrimp, tequila, or Margarita mix.

There is a Jimmy Buffett that I like...and the mass marketing Jimmy Buffett is the one I just can't follow.

It is his perogative to market himself all he wants....I'm just not going to go and buy stuff that has his name on it just because it does.

I don't buy the shrimp because it's Margaritaville brand- I buy it because it's really good (and living in Indiana, the likelyhood of getting never-frozen shrimp that's safe to eat is pretty slim, so the fresh/frozen thing doesn't apply as much to me).

I have a question for all of you who have bought the shrimp. On the package, does it say where the shrimp is from?
Eat seafood? Use bait? Thank a commercial fisherman.

We've had the coconut ones too. We liked them because it was all we had to eat that night and we were starving. We found them at Costco!

We've had the tequila lime shrimp lots of times...over rice. It is dang spicy and my keets love it! Anything my keets will eat gets made more than once!

It's available at Costco round here.

It's available at Costco here (Las Vegas), too. My keets like the lime when mixed with traditional scampi (garlic and butter) shrimp and served over pasta. My youngest will eat almost anything if its served over or with pasgetti.

I've only had the shrimp at a concert when they were passing it out . It was very good. However, we have no Costcos here and the nearest Sams club is many miles away so we do not have a membership.

However, if it was available here, I'd buy it!

Finally pulled the jerk out of the freezer...
SPICY!and very good.
I really like the size of the M'ville shrimp and the
ease of preparation. :D Now if I can just find the other
two varieties I'll be fulfilled.

Absolutely, don't buy it if you don't want to but I found his products to be of high quality. I don't get the impression that he endorses stuff just to be endorsing it.

The shrimp is pretty good - Jammin' Jerk is my personal preference.
The tequila is also very good (better than Cuervo and about the same $).
Always thought the clothing items, hats, etc. were also high quality and worth the $. I wouldn't buy any of it if I didn't think they were good products.

Like you said Coconuts, our choices for fresh shrimp here are virtually non-existent and I can only bring back so much when I return to Florida for vacations. Thanks Sams Club for stocking the stuff. I'll keep buying. 8)

The mango chutney with coconut shrimp is pretty good.

The whole idea was cooked up by an advertising agency, Jimmy's only involvement is to collect royalties. When it first came out there was an article in the local paper all about the process.

I would rather send licensing fees to Jimmy than Landry's or something. Even if it was Landry's, I'd still buy it because it tastes good. (Sorry, I just found a fly at the BOTTOM of my Arby's salad and I'm kind of grouchy, so I'll change that a bit.)

And I'm fine with Margaritaville being a brand so long as it's a high value brand (because let's face it- Margaritaville isn't great tequila, but it's about average taste for about an average price).
