I do yardwork for my parents on Sundays back at their house and I was outside working with MMIM 1 playing and at one point, my mom asked me, "Is this Jimmy Buffett? I really like this. This is great pool music!" She then asked me to make her a copy of MMIM. So I'm working on converting my Mom to parrotheadism, which is cool.

Well, maybe not to the extent of some people around here, but here's the story....

When they run you out of town make it look like you are leading the parade.

I am lucky in that both of my parents get it! I converted them several years ago and they go to at least one Buffett concert every year. They even went to MOTM in Key West last year!
I am the President of the local PH Club (my parents are members) and it's cool when people ask my parents if their kids like Jimmy Buffett too. They always answer, well matter of fact she's the President of the Bluegrass Parrot Head Club!
Oh and they recently redecorated their bedroom and bathroom with palm trees...
I'm so proud!!!

Both of my parents never had a problem with the majority of the rest of the family being Buffett fans. I remember my Dad making a trip to the Keys in the 70s and coming back telling us about eating in one of Buffett's restaurants down there (he and his friend had to leave because the "marijuana stench" was too much for his friend). Buffett music was always played on the boat when we were out deep sea fishing so my Dad was constantly exposed to it. Years later when he was hospitalized my Mom and I would listen to Buffett mixed tapes on the way to and from the hospital which had sort of a healing effect on both of us. When he died, it was only natural that "The Captain and the Kid" was played at his services. My Mom always wanted to go to a Buffett concert but sadly that day never arrived as she passed away not too many years after losing our Dad. Let's just say Buffett music was (and still is) a stronghold in our family.

My family has always listened to Buffett. Until my little sister joined the Air Force, I'd only been to 1 show without her. My brother and sil go along, but the sil still doesn't get it. But we finally got my parents to go to Columbus. They still listen to Buffett just about all the time, but that will be the only show they go to. They just don't enjoy the whole concert experience. But at least there's always Buffett in the CD player!
