NH/Maine Campgrounds?
Having just gotten back from camping this weekend, the BF and I have decided that we want to camp as many times as possible this summer. We have another trip coming up on the Saco over 4th of July....but I'm on the hunt for good campgrounds. We'd be heading up into NH or Maine probably, and like sites that are located on rivers. We'd also like to be able to bring our pocketbikes, and campgrounds with quiet hours beginning at 10 pm are pretty much right out. I've seen a bunch online, but prefer first-hand recommendations, if possible. Any suggestions?

An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life.

My family likes the Jigger Johnson site in the White Mountain National Forest along the swift river (Kancamangus Hwy)....They have flushing toilets!MojosMama wrote:Having just gotten back from camping this weekend, the BF and I have decided that we want to camp as many times as possible this summer. The pocket bikes I'm not sure about. Most places aren't thrilled about that kind of thing scooting about in the woods.
My wife's family used to be in the business. If you like lots of things to do while staying onsite I suggest Kings & Queens Resort, So. Lebanon, Me. Pools, hot tubs, water slide, minigolf, dances. Midnite is quiet hour but nobody bothers you if you keep it down as much as possible.
Point Sebago is another favorite. Lots to do. Nice big lake. Expensive.
If you like it alittle more rustic try Acres of Wildlife or Papoose Pond.
You also might want to check out MI-TE-JO near Milton, NH. Always had kind of a wild reputation locally.

We had a great time....didn't wanna come home. So, I'm consoling myself by planning more trips and buying a crank blender.Melli_Fera wrote:

For future reference keep in mind to attend the NH Camping show in Manchester in March/April (NOT the smaller one in Feb.). LOTS of NH & Maine campgrounds. You get to talk to the owners and get a little feel about the places. The Boston show at the end of January is just too frickin huge and busy to be able to talk to very many people.
