Truly sad. Died of a heart attack.
They put out one additional book of his - a partially completed novel and a few other tidbits.... called "A Salmon of a Doubt" Pretty sure Amazon has it. And then my good friend Cmtnfish turned me on to a great non-fiction Douglas Adams book (someone help me with the title) where he documented a few trips he did looking for nearly extinct animals.

Key Lime...Love the Sig Line man.. Is Simply Complicated written by Jimmy ?? sounds it
Well guys in my Ignorant opinion i think that Window To The World is going to be one of the best on the Cd..along with Coastal Confessions, Piece Of Work, Back to the Island..Simply Complicated sounds like a fun tune..i couldnt get Coast Of Carolina to work on my comp though
i dunno...this Cd sounds really good...Jimmy Seems happy, and when Jimmys Happy doing something he wants to do i think it reflects on his music.

I hope that all the greedy bastards in the world
Come back as lobsters.
You know that life at the bottom of the food chain
Suits them well.
I think that all of the evil people of the world
Come back as horseflies,
They want one last bite before they're sent to hell.

Searching is half the fun: life is much more manageable when thought of as a scavenger hunt as opposed to a surprise party.

I'm a little late getting home from work and jumping into this discussion. However, I feel the need to put in my two cents. Jimmy began as a country star. It is only fitting his success on the charts would come from the country music genre. I listened to the sound bites from the new album. I like them. I especially like the blip from "Simply Complicated" because I deal with a lot of people who could be, should be, or have been on the Jerry Springer show. I also like country music. I can't wait to get the new album. I was hooked when I finally heard Coast of Carolina live in Atlanta. Hey Good Lookin and LTC had to "grow" on me, but then again, I HATE WDWGDAS. Individuals make up the world. It would be boring if we were all alike.

I am willing to give LTC a chance. Some of my new favorite Buffett tunes are ones that I was lukewarm about in the beginning. Yes, I will buy it without a question because I want everything that Jimmy does.
For my tastes, I like the duet with Martina the best so far. I will admit to being a big fan.
I can't get the link for the Clint Black duet to work, anyone else having trouble?

I sure do find it curious that your sig line is from one of the twangiest tunes Jimmy has ever recorded.tryin' to reason wrote:I'm not buying it because:
1. I buy JB albums to hear JB, not duets with other stars who also want to play the cross-over game.
2. I don't like country, and clearly the vast majority of this music is country
3. I don't blindly buy everything anyone produces, just because I'm a phan.
No, you don't have to agree with any of this, but I believe the question was "Am I the only one who is unimpressed with LTC?", and my response is "no".

I'll buy the CD the first day it goes on sale. Coast of Carolina and Boats to Build alone make it worth the purchase price for me.

I just thought I'd bring this back up, in case anyone's opinion changed when they heard the CD.
I'll admit to changing my opinion. I was excited about a country release, thinking it might be a "back to the roots" thing. I was disappointed when I heard LTC and HGL, and very unimpressed when I heard the :30 samples on-line.
But now, having heard the whole thing, I really like it. Much better than I expected. Even HGL and LTC fit in nicely and I like them more than before.
Most importantly, it sounds like Jimmy is having fun. And that's gotta be good!

I have just finished listening to LTC for the second time thru on CMT.
I guess I am disappointed as a whole.
But out of 16 tracks I'd say the keepers are:
Hey Good Lookin
Boats to Build
LTC
Coast of Carolina
Anything, Anytime, Anywhere
Scarlet Begonias
and a very good rentition of Back To The Island
I guess I am disappointed as a whole.

Maybe I'm missing something. You liked 7 out of the 16 tracks and are still disappointed? I know a lot of Grumpy Old Parrot Heads who couldn't find 7 tracks that they liked in the last 3 Buffett albums combined (not counting Meet Me in Margaritaville)!Jimmy Dreams In Omaha wrote:I have just finished listening to LTC for the second time thru on CMT.
