Coast of Carolina lyrics

Post by conched »

Don't know if there were heard correctly...but they are special.

Little roadside restaurant we artfully complain
Groovy tells the waitress that his chicken died in vain
Most every day goes by according to design
I live this dream and still it seems I have you on my mind

From the bottom of my heart
Off the coast of Carolina
AFter one or two false starts
I believe we found our stride
And the walls that won't come down
We can decorate or climb
Or find some way to get around
Cause I'm still on your side
From the bottom of my heart.

I can't see the future
But I know it's coming fast
It's not that hard to wind up knee-deep in the past
There come alot of Mondays
Since that phone booth that first night
Tears and miles and years and smiles
I wanna get it right.

Chorus

Music Interlude

These days I get up about the time I used to go to bed
Living large was once the deal
Now I watch the stars instead
They're timeless and predictable
Unlike most things that I do
I tell the wind and my old friend
I'm headed home to you

Chorus

Thanks for the help!!

I love the "Come Monday" reference -really gives a sense of how far all of us have come. This was the first time I've heard the song - he didn't play it at the Minneapolis show - and I really liked it. I'm sure it will only improve with further listening.

Yes, with Mac as I understand it.

And I thought it was "Tears and miles and years and smiles..."
but I could be wrong. The way you have it sounds good too.

I like the fact that the musical interlude after the bridge reference to Come Monday is, in fact, a variation on the solo in Come Monday...

The song is, by far, my favorite off the new record....

He did this song in the Atlanta show and it was great. It has lots of possibilities on the charts, if it were to follow HGL. It is even better since it came from Mac and JB.

very beautiful song!

i think it could be very sentimental to me since the "coast of carolina" is where me and my long-time boyfriend fell in love :-D

Thanks for the lyrics! I was hoping to find them :)

he played it a bit more upbeat at the FLL show, but slowing it down and with an acoustic guitar really made it shine.. personally i think its one of his best songs in many many years....

I can only agree. One of my new favorites and one of the BEST I've heard in a long time. Savannah Fare You Well stuck with me the same way.

Definitely. I am hoping this is the defining song for the new album, and gets some play after the HGL fad dies out. This one has some serious style.

As much as I really love this song, I'm afraid that nonfans will not
"get it" at all. We all know Bubba well enough (or like to think we do
anyway) to feel the emotion he's got invested in the lyrics. The video
of him and Capt Groovy that was shown during the shows makes it
clear what this song is about. But I really doubt that mainstream
listeners will be impressed. JMHO (Of course we don't really care, do we? )

I absolutely love this song. It has radio potential, but adult contemporary instead of country. So, now that it's been on the Today show will it be played during concerts live instead of blacked out on RM? Makes no sense to continue blocking it when the world saw it on Today. I saw it in Atlanta and fell in love with it. Best song on the new cd for sure. Ranks right up there with Far Side for great new songs.

Thanks SP!!! Jimmys done a lot of songs...And a lot of them mean a LOT to me..But this is in the top handful..Ive heard it about 4 or 5 times..3 on the today show(sound check) and a phew times on the computer...Each time I just get taken away into the song...If the album is anything like this, it will be the best one yet(except for LMIP, but only for personal reasons)..Gosh this song amazes me :o

It was fun when he sang it at Atlanta.
Alot of people didn't know the song, but it was great to hear him sing it live.
