wish I was still there, but I just woundered what are your thoughts on the today show..I think he played a good set list.. the coast of carolina was great...I dunno if I was on tv or not..I was sorta in the middle..I had a sign that said Jimmy Buffett for president

Saw your sign, and laughed to myself, thinking how much more effective JB would than W!
Out on the west coast, we didn't get to see "Jolly Mon", and it was frustrating cuz as the local station here were going to the break, you could hear JB calling out, " Jolly Mon... ready?". I almost threw my bloody mary at the t.v....

I guess being in the central time zone is a good thing

It was AWESOME!! The set list actually ending up being pretty good, I didn't think I liked hey good looking but its not bad live. I did however absolutely love Jolly mom and we are the people, then when he threw in CBIP as a surprise ending I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.
Well worth the 12 hours I spent camping out in line.

Anybody manage to get a good copy on DVD of the entire JB and the Reefers on the Today show? We were there after a two hour trip and long wait...it was worth it, but the damn VCR at home didn't get the show which was one of the better ones (as far as Today show gigs) we've seen. Crowd was pretty large and their were a lot of cool costumes and creative touches. Set list was great, especially "We Are the People." No M'ville (thank God) and Katie had to ask for the unrehearesed CiP....I think I am almost as sick of hearing it as Jimmy must be of playing the "Songs that Are Played to Death!" See you all at Jones Beach!

In the South we got all the songs, and the Mobile, Al. station had an early show from Lulu's where there was a large gatherning to watch. Everyday should start out this way!

Here in coastal NC we didn't get the whole show, no "Jolly Mon" but I heard Buffett mention it as someone else already said.

NO FAIR!!!! I spent 23 years of my life around Mobile, move to Nashville and JB goes home to do a show, don't get to see Jolly Mon in Nashville on the Today show, and now, JB seems to be getting the respect at home he jokes about in Saxaphones. If only there were jobs at home. . .

I just watched my tape, and I thought it was great; it's nice to be able to fast forward through all the nonsense segments.
I was there in 2001. Our entourage (pregnant wife, mother-in law, and 2 keets, ages 4 and almost 2) got there at 3am. Soundcheck was great, but he worst part was between 7:00 and 8:30. When he was done playing at 9am, I was so drained that I wouldn't have hung around if the Beatles were reuniting.
I like this year's song selection. We'll get the inevitable new stuff and SYBKH tune, but "Parents" and "Jolly Mon" are great PH favorites that came across well.

Out here, Jolly Mon was played at the very end of the show. Fade to black.

Let me guess - you mean the parts where they try to explain what's going on in the world, right?

I thought he meant the commercials. It seems like they break for commercials about every 5 minutes on that show.

What drove me crazy was that because I had to work, I was forced to tape it. When I tried to watch it, I rewound all the way to the beginning of the show because I wanted to catch all the parts where they went outside. So, I put it on fast forward where you can still see what's on the screen. Whenever I would hit a part where they went outside, I would stop to watch it. Well, there were a couple of times (I think around 7:30-8:00) where they would go outside, then either go inside or do a check of the weather, and then go right back outside. I was never prepared for them to come back outside that quickly, and I kept running past it. I would get it going on fast forward, then have to rewind, and play. Then, I would fast forward thinking it would be awhile, but they would go right back outside. Oops, I would have to hit the rewind button and go back again.
Took me over an hour to fast forward through and watch every part of the show that was taped outside. And, I think five to ten minutes of that hour was time spent when I was rewinding back to a part I sped through because I wasn't expecting them to go back outside!
