What CDs to bring to Key West?

Tommorow morning, my parents and I depart on our 4 day vacation to Key West. Its at least an 8 hour car ride, but once we get down in the Miami area, I know there will be lots of eye candy. This will be my first time ever down island and will be the most south I have ever gone. :D

As for CDs to bring, do you think the box set and MMIM will do it? It's very convinant and all and both are full of great tunes, but I know I will regret taking some of the albums with us as there are lots of gems not on either. We are taking a case that holds 20 CDs (box set not included in the 20) and want to get some other artists in there also.

I will also bring A-1-A for the experiance of listing to it on the gulf coast highway of the same name.

What's everyone think?

I'm leaving this morning to head that way for my cruise, which unfortunately means I will not get the Miami to the Keys driving experience, but its still a long drive from good ole' Knoxville, TN to Miami (900 miles). I just got done putting my little travel CD book together, here is my lineup...............

Jimmy Buffett mp3 collection
Alternative Rock/ Heavy Metal mp3 collection (Metallica, Weezer, etc.)
Praise and Worship mp3 collection
Oldies mp3 collection (Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears, etc.)
Rap mp3 collection (tons of edited Snoop, Dre, etc.)
Jimmy Buffett - Live in Cincinnati 1 and 2
Jimmy Buffett - Banana Wind
Jimmy Buffett - Feeding Frenzy
Outkast - The Love Below / Speakerboxxx
Elton John - Greatest Hits I
James Taylor - Greatest Hits
Kenny Chesney - When the Sun Goes Down (plus Target bonus disc)
"Classics from the Movies"
Norah Jones - Come Away With Me
Kirk Franklin - The Nu Nation Project
Bob Marley - Legends
Nirvana - Unplugged in New York
Rod Stewart - The Great American Songbook (volume 1 and 2)
Josh Groban - Josh Groban

Yes, a very diverse collection. These are just a few out of all I have. I enjoy all kinds of music. Hey man, enjoy your trip and I'll enjoy mine.

Any Club Trini cds would be great.

For reading, who has time for reading in Key West, unless it's the outside of the Corona bottle, but if you want a good taste of the old Key West, read Buffett's brother in law, Tom McGuane's book "Panama".

PS, I love the Ringling highway sign picture from a previous post, I would take one of the Livingston sign, but the notorious Livingston winds blew it down. That's why we from Livingston walk like we are always walking up hill.

Or to make it a Key West related book, read "92 in the Shade" by McGaune. I never read Panama, it may be too.

Has anyone ever seen the VHS of 92 in the Shade?

If you have the Margaritaville Late Night Cafe - Key West, bring that. Bring Live by the Bay, either VHS or burn the audio to CD, that is great for a ride down. Any of the Reefers' solo stuff and some Jim Morris - start with Laid Back and Key Wasted.

But leave a little room to buy some CDs down there to bring back. There is some great music in the Keys. My favorite is Michael McCloud at Schooner's Warf.

Have fun!

Good call on the Thongs CDs.

When you get there, go to the Hog's Breath and see if they still have the Key West Guitar and Garden Club CD. It is awesome!
