I just read on Rodney Crowel.com about a band he and Vince Gill put together called "The Notorious Cherry Bombs." Does anybody know anything about this all star band?

Hopefully this will help. I recently saw this posted on an alt.country listserv I belong to:

From www.folkwax.com:

More than two decades after forming as Rodney Crowell's road band,
the Notorious Cherry Bombs make their "Tonight Show" debut on August
4. In addition to Crowell, the new edition of the band also includes
original members Vince Gill, keyboardist Tony Brown, guitarist
Richard Bennett, and steel guitarist Hank DeVito. They recently shot
a video for the single, "It's Hard to Kiss the Lips at Night (That
Chew Your Ass Out All Day Long)." The band's first album will be
released on July 27.

Go to www.cmt.com and check out the new video. The song is great and the video is funny. Probabaly not a chance in hell of hearing it on Clear Channel Country radio!

For those that might be interested, someone posted this earlier today to a music listserv I belong to:

THE NOTORIOUS CHERRY BOMBS
Album Title: The Notorious Cherry Bombs
Producer(s): the Notorious Cherry Bombs
Genre: COUNTRY
Label/Catalog Number: Universal South 253002
Release Date: July 27
Source: Billboard Magazine
Originally Reviewed: July 31, 2004

As country music's most impressive supergroup this side of the
Highwaymen, the Notorious Cherry Bombs boast a lineup of Nashville
music titans: Rodney Crowell, Vince Gill and Tony Brown, along with
Eddie Bayers (drums), Richard Bennett (guitars), Hank DeVito (steel)
and John Hobbs (keyboards). More greasy than slick, "The Notorious
Cherry Bombs" is a fine boogie time. The rollicking opener "Let It
Roll, Let It Ride" and thumpin' "On the Road to Ruin" come off like a
rural Traveling Wilburys. Crowell shines throughout, with a writing
credit on seven cuts, including a gem of a ballad, "Making Memories
of Us." The Bombs sit squarely in Cash country on "Oklahoma Dust." It
contains an uncustomarily gruff vocal from Gill, who is pure country
soul on "Forever Someday." "It's Hard to Kiss the Lips at Night That
Chew Your Ass Out All Day Long" is a country chart-topper in an
alternative universe. But in any cosmos, the Bombs are the bomb.—RW
