XM Radio Question

Post by KYflamingo »

I just got an XM satellite radio system for my car as a birthday present. I remember reading something a while back (on BN I think) about Radio Margaritaville joining onto the Satellite radio system. I would love to be able to listen to Radio Margaritaville when I'm driving!!!

Has anyone heard anything about this? I hope it's not just a nasty rumor...

Apparently XM wants to keep their programming in-house. :(

Actually... we do farm out some of our programming. There have been discussions with RM from day one about coming on board, but from my understanding, RM wasn't interested. Give 'em time to catch the Radio Revolution. ;)

By the way... since you linked to xmfan.com - I just love the search feature there. If you put his name in you'll see all the assorted channels that DO play Jimmy. I heard him on X Country the other day!

So the best thing to do is to keep lobbying RM? I think the biggest thing that might hold them back is the name. Most parrotheads understand that RM plays other stuph, but most other people would probably go "Ewwwww... just Jimmy Buffett, 24-7? I don't wanna listen to *that.*"

Of course, I would. :pirate:

Thanks for the XMfan link Mrmiata!

I will definitely sign on to that site and start sending in requests for RM. I'd settle for a Caribbean channel, but I'd rather have RM!!

I will also send requests to RM as well. Maybe they'll eventually have a change of heart if they see the demand is out there.

I haven't gotten my XM radio activated yet b/c I still have to get it installed. I can't wait to have commercial-free radio!

Thanks again to everyone who posted a reply...

I would too :-D

BTW, Radio Margaritaville could make some money, I'm sure, with the fees associated with XM radio. That could be a good business venture :-D

forget XM- SIRIUS is much, much better!!!! besides the dedicated channel with Jimmy they have every NFL game live for free and they give you a password for their website so you or your family can listen via the computer at the same time someone else is on the road listening to the Sirius radio. In amost every side by side comparison SIRIUS wins; I did my research and chose Sirius, forget the other guys.

I can help with the XM email addresses if someone can provide the RM email addresses.

Attack on two fronts is probably the best strategy. ;)

Nice to see a Sirius staffer on the board as well.

XM negotiations

Post by Mango Picker »

From what I heard from JBs CTO yesterday, doing a worthwhile deal has not been easy. Last discussions were a while ago.

XM has their own content/format, and wanted it done the XM way. Was not a good fit with what JB wanted to share with his fans.

XM or Sirius is a neat idea, but it as to be workable for both parties.
