Alpine Valley - July 10, 2004

Post by dani369 »

I was at the Alpine show Saturday night! What a show! Looking for anyone who may have recorded the show. Would love to relive the experience. 18 years of Jimmy and the fun keeps going. Thanks for the memories! :wench:

We were also at the show and we were not able to record due to lack of a connection. Would appreciate any help with the show! Phins up!

Alpine show

I recorded it in MP3 using Replay Radio for someone else. I have not edited it yet, so I don't know how good a recording I have, but I definitely have it. I may offer it as a tree or download. Would any of those be okay? If not, PM me and I'll send you a copy, but it may be next week before I can get to it.

BTW, Replay Radio is so easy to use you wouldn't believe it. Is anybody interested in learning how to use it? You just pick a station (Radio Margaritaville MP3, a date and time to start and stop and that's it! Just be sure your computer is on and the program is open ( can be minimized).

I would be able to download it and offer up an FTP site to store it on for everyone else.

RMM, please PM me and we'll work out how to get it to me once you have it cut up into tracks.

Most people on the BN board only ask that pay a small fee for materials and postage (sometimes a little extra for the effort and defray the cost of the recording program). Others like to "trade" concerts.

If everyone can wait until next week when I get back from vacation, I will be offering up the show as a B&P for anyone that wants it.
Is it day?

We also had connection problems while at the show, and sadly arrived home to no recording. :(

I would be tremendously grateful for a copy of this, and would also be willing to provide an FTP d/l link; however, I would prefer to have this show in 'whole' form, rather than cut into tracks. If anyone can be of assistance, please let me know.

Thanks.

concerts in "whole" form

Post by RMM »

I am going to try to upload an unedited version of the Alpine show for ParrotHead PC. Do other people want it that way or edited?

I usually edit out the DJ, songs that they play on RM during intermission that you can't hear at the show (I have been leaving School Boy Heart in because it was played at the show during intermission.), and longer crowd noise around the encores. I make sure Jimmy's comments are edited with the appropriate song. I do not fade in and out, but just make cuts (haven't tried fading yet; may do it in the future). My intent is to try to duplicate the concert experience as much as possible. I have been very happy with my results so far. Play it in a car with a good stereo and you'd even think you're at the concert.

BTW, I use Replay Radio ( http://www.replay-radio.com ) to record in MP3 ($30) and MP3 Magic to edit ($10, available through Replay Radio). They are VERY easy to use if you want to try it yourself. You can easily set it up to record as many concerts as you want as far into the future as is reasonable (I have some of the August concerts already set up.). You have to leave your computer on and the program has to be open, as I recall (can be minimized). It will start and stop whenever you set it to.

You can download a free demo of Replay Radio with no credit card, but it only works for a few minutes in the demo version. It will give you a good idea of how the program works and whether you like the sound quality. MP3 Magic is also available as a free 7 day demo.

I will also upload an edited version when I get it edited. I will post a notice when I do (probably tomorrow or the next day).

I am also willing to start a "tree" if people would prefer that option. I would prefer to not try to mail copies to everybody as I am crunched for time right now. If that is the only thing that works for you, though, let me know and I will try to get you out a copy next week sometime. There's nothing like having a copy of a concert you attended. It's awesome!

if you can mail me a copy, i will gladly premail you 10 bucks or something like that for your troubles. you are indeed correct about having the concert you just went to. the songs tend to get hazy and you want that refresher :)

RMM, my email is kevyschnell@hotmail.com

if you would be willing to send me a copy of the show, write me back and we can work everything out.

I have part one of the show (up to half-time and including Schoot Boy Heart) from RMM, cut into tracks. As soon as I get part two from him today, I will post the FTP site that y'all can go to to download it.

I also have all the Alpine concerts from 99-present that I will upload to that same FTP site as soon as I have some time. These are in MP3 format as well, ripped at VBR near-CD quality from a CD cut by 7lords.

Stay tuned!!

Concert in whole

Post by dani369 »

RMM - Thank you so much for doing that. What ever you can do is great. Unedited is ideal for reliving the experience, but will settle for edited if you decide to go that route. I look forward to the post and am willing to send you a little something for your troubles. Is $10 OK? Just let me know when you are all set to go!

Thanks and fins up!

Alpine show download link

Post by RMM »

The entire Alpine Valley show is now available for download at the following link:

ftp://198.177.95.252

I edited out the first part of Hot, Hot, Hot because the DJ was talking as it started. I will upload a complete version with the DJ talking in case you want that version. Since it is a recording, I also have complete versions of it with other concerts that you will be able to download in a few days.

I will also upload Jimmy's before-show interview in the next few days as well.

Enjoy!

RMM- I could not access the ftp site for the Alpine concert today. Had no trouble with it on Friday, but today asking if I have permission to view and to double check the address.
Not entirely computer savvy, is it just getting a heck of a lot of traffic? Also, the concert after copying to my hard drive on friday plays excellent on my laptop, but went to burn to cds, and the playback is terrible..thoughts? Any reformatting has to be done, coverting into different files?

Thanks,
