Could LTC be Record of the Year?

I have worked in broadcasting, both radio and tv, for 14 years. Just listening to LTC for the first time in full today, I think it has a very good chance in being the country music Record of the Year.
There are at least 6 songs that can easily be in the top 10, with 3 to 4 #1's. "Hey Good Lookin'" and "Piece of Work" will be number one. He wanted mainstream, I think he has got it.

That's the kind of success I've been talking about - I think it would be awesome! I'm no insider but I think it's got a shot - I guess only time will tell.

I'm a parrothead, I think all of the Buffett cds should be Album of the Year (but I'll readily admit that I'm biased!).

if Jimmy does good marketing it's deffinately got a shot, i'd say a better shot for the 2005 ACMs than the 2004 CMAs

How soon will we know (1) how many copies it's sold and (2) how that compares to other new releases this year? Having set the all-time record for presales on Amazon and with so many of us buying multiple copies, I suspect it's doing extremely well.

Well I guess he has a shot since he's basically done what Nashville has always wanted in that the music itself is pretty mainstream. I'm not sure how I feel about him having so many current "Nashville" country stars to boost the music. I think this Cd is ok, but not really Buffett type music. There really isn't as much a difference between Buffett & the Kenny Chesney's of the world on this CD. Not to say that's neccessarily bad, but I just don't like mainstream Nashville as much as classic Buffett.

I don't like mainstream and I didn't think Jimmy did either. People who go mainstream tend to 'loose their way'.

It's got my vote! I really think LTC will be a #1, it's better than 5:00 in my opinion!

After listening to the cd for 4 days now , I could barely listen to it the first day without getting p*** or depressed but that had to do with the disaster in Indy, but thats a whole other thread.
but now that has passed and I think it will have at least a shot

That really sucks. I was quite lucky that a club member took care of me and kept me away from my family again this year (My s-i-l's not much fun). And you didn't get a thunderstorm, either.
