Does anybody else IGNORE the pirate warning...

... on the back of the LTC CD? :pirate:

Its not like I have been making copy's and selling or giving them away. :o
I just made a copy for each car and imported the whole CD into iTunes at work. And the original copy is at home. Where ever I go its playing. I have probably listened to LTC... 30 times.

There is a pirate warning?

I thought Cap'n Sparrow had sailed toward the sunset a while back.

NAAAA that's a scare tactic. There is no way for thre Gov't to knw that you copied it. I have already copied one for my mom and dad. I download tons of music and burn CD's. I support the artists that I really revere. Such as Bubba. Kinda ironic...the "pirate"warning :pirate: ARRRR

You didn’t ignore the warning. Making personal copies falls under fair use.

Starting in June last year, the RIAA has been getting quite p*** about piracy and is really cracking down. Hacking into people’s computers, what are they thinking? Now they have reworded the “unauthorized duplication is a violation of applicable laws” line and now use a larger point size on the back of CDs so it’s no longer fine print, as well as place an FBI seal on the back to scare everyone. I guess from this point on the bottom portion of the back of CD cases is the RIAA’s property to place these warnings. The RIAA is the nazis of the music world.

Comments like that allow people to say that "the nazis were only trying to get what was theirs" ... try to be more cognizant when exaggerating.

Look, I'm not a fan of the RIAA either. BUT IT'S STILL STEALING, and they have a right to be p***. Have they've been smart about it? No. But demonizing the RIAA is a knee-jerk reaction for THIEVES, and who gets hurt? People like me, who actually buy CDs.

I buy CDs, I HATE downloading stuff, I have to have the offical product with the insert and all that. I just don't think it is right to hack into peoples machines.

You're right, I apologize. I just ask board members to be more sensitive when comparing corporate entities to political parties that made a habit out of genocide.

EDIT: And no, I don't mean Republicans 8)

Back to the topic at hand:

Yes, I found it hysterical to see the anti-piracy warning on there. Does this mean "Pirate Looks at 40" won't play anymore?

What's next, an anti-drug message?!?

Look, I didn't mean to throw this thread into a "wormhole", I just don't think what the RIAA did last year was that smart of a move. There are lots of people out there who downloaded that were not really musically intellegent and didn't relize what they were doing was stealing, they just found it convenent that they didn't have to pay. They didn't pay any attention to the news around that time and had a lawsuit just creep up on them. I just don't find that right. I'm not on either side, the people who used programs like Kazaa bugged me for their lazyness and cheapness while the RIAA bugged me for their bullying.

Done. Back to topic.

Idiocy is no excuse. Either on the part of the RIAA or those who didn't know they were stealing.

(You mean I can't eat food in a supermarket without paying for it?)

Burned them all to my computer to have. Burned a CD for the car and one for my shower cd player. Always good to have copies around b/c I tend to be rough on my CD's.

I always burn copies of CDs, but I loose things (if anyone's seen my mind, I'd really like it back)- that way, I can keep the original safe and if I leave one in someone else's car after a road trip, oh well.
