My hubby has several, mostly for hunting. I like to shoot sheet and target practice when I can, which is very rare. I belong to the NRA, and yes, I vote.

anyone out there had an opportunity to fire the new S&W .500 Magnum? that thing has to be the closest thing to an arm cannon in the last 200 years. :pirate:

That S&W .50 looks awesome! Seems like it would take your arm off. I saw that thing right before it came out in Gun & Ammo.

I have no objection to firearms, having served in the military - but tooooo many crazy people out there allowed to have them.

We had a good example of that this week in my city - a whole family gone in a murder/suicide cause the dad was given back his firearm after he originally had his licence removed because of his mental state.

Someone got his mental state wrong when they gave it back to him.

Just remember Jenny guns don't kill people, people kill people and they would if no guns existed. Funny how that nobody wants to report the amount of thwarted home invasions, robberies or any other thing in relation to the good that guns do.

We have pretty strict gun laws out here - a good thing - we have had one too many gun masacres (one is one too many). Yes people will still kill - but not to the same number as when people do have guns.

I work with a guy that has a severe physical disability because of kids getting hold of guns and hitting him in the neck when he was playing golf ....

sorry - just my view .....

I own:

Glock 26 (wife's daily carry gun)
Glock 30 (my winter carry gun)
Glock 19
Springfield Loaded 1911 Stainless
Smith and Wesson 642 (my hot weather carry gun)
Ruger P89DC
Smith and Wesson 12 gauge bird gun
Mossberg Persuader (w/pistol grip)
Norinco MAK-90 (w/sporter stock)

All are for personal protection and target shooting. I'm not a hunter, and my guns have killed less people than Ted Kennedy's car. When deciding whether to be food or not, I choose to not be food.

Well said my friend. I own weapons, I carry them for personal protection as well. I also teach people tactical firearms use. Too many have no clue of the consequences that can be brought about by use of firearms. Even the legal use. I stress this during my courses. I was even accused of being anti-gun bcause of it. I'm not anti-gun I am for people knowing the whole truth of what they are getting in for. I basically tell them if you aren't willing to pull the trigger and live with the results sell it.

I have a Glock 30 .45 caliber for a defensive carry gun. Handguns have always meant to be a back up weapon. For home defense I have a 12 gauge shotgun with forgrip light. Gotta love the pump shotguns versatility.

I do. I have a Bushmaster AR-15 police carbine (same as the military M-16 but better). I also have a Ruger Mini-14 Police Carbine (.223 same cal. as AR-15). For handguns I have 2 Golcks, a model 27 subcompact 40 cal. and a model 21 a full size 45 cal. The bushmaster is by far my favorite it has a very nice heads up sight with a red dot/circle, not magnified. I can hit quarters from 100 yards. :D :D I'm in the market for a shotgun for hunting, but I don't know if I could shoot a deer, but it sure tastes good.

  You've gotta be $h!ting me! They banned it from their own test range!?! That sounds like a great marketing ploy.

no marketing ploy, you could rent it at the public range for about a month and then they discovered the damage it was doing.and they have a state of the art indoor range here so they removed it from the list of weapons that can be fired there.it has to be shot at the rifle range.
some of the stats he gave me was that it has the 3 times the muzzle energy of a .44 mag and the recoil of a .308 rifle.there is actually a warning that comes in the box that states that nerve damage could result from extended firing.i shot it 5 times and it definitely has some serious kick :pirate:
