My current favorite is the TC Encore .44 mag pistol with a 12 inch barrel. I use it for target practice and hunting. Iron sights only, the only way to go with a handgun.

That is a nice spud gun by the way. I'd like to mount one on my truck, since I think the .50 machine gun would draw too much attention. :o
Ditto on the more than one, less than 100! I am working on my first custom build AR15, just for me.....
This ought to be interesting.....

i spent a ton of money on my AR,it looked cool but didnt really do anything any better than a stock heavy barrel bushmaster.i sold it because i was having a hard time getting ammo.plus the assault weapon ban will hopefully not be renewed which will bring the value of a "post ban" weapon way down.
i just got my machine gun license so i am looking at a real M-16 anyway :pirate: :pirate:

You're right..but I am going for the build, knowledge of how it works, and the satisfaction of building it myself , from scratch..
Besides, I own a post ban bushmaster, and like it very much...
Just going for the personal satisfaction thing here..and well, honestly, I am only 5'1" tall and need a LOP I can handle...

if you really want to try something trick and can afford it i suggest the RROC.its a reduced recoil operating system that replaces the AR's bolt and system with an M14 system.far more reliable and shoots like a dream.i have shot one that was a prototype at the time and it was sweeeeeeet :pirate:

I'M GOING TO ATTEMPT BOW THIS SEASON.I ALSO PLAN ON BEAR HUNTING WITH A PISTOL.RIGHT NOW I CANT WAIT FOR BIRD SEASON THOUGH
Upland or waterfowl?
UPLAND.PHEASANT,GROUSE AND WOODCOCK
I hunt both waterfowl and upland. Out here the waterfowling is not the greatest, pheasants have a hard time with the winters. But man Chucker hunting is the best.

I definitely need gun advice. We don't own any guns. Hubby has guns but they are at his dad's house. I know there is a muzzle-loader-or-somethin like that. I really know nothing about them and am deathly afraid of them. Hubby wants to have them out the house and I am truly askeered, especially with the keets around.

Any suggestions to help overcome my fears? I know it would make hubby really happy to have them around...We're not really the hunting types, but I know he would like to have one for protection at the house and for target shooting in the mountains and such.

The only way you can get over the fear is to confront it head on. That is what I did. Find an instructor that you are comfortable with (that is key...it may take a while but go with your gut). A good instructor is not going to put a loaded gun anywhere near your hands until *they* are comfortable that you are comfortable with it. And the best thing you can do with your keets is to educate them. Let them know the rules, early on...especially rule #1: every gun is loaded (even if you KNOW it's not...you always treat it as if it were). The more you educate your kids (and yourself), the less chance there is of something tragic happening. There is a program called Eddie the Eagle that the NRA puts out, you might want to check into it for Victoria if you do indeed decide to keep a gun in the house...and really, even if you don't. Informed kids are much safer kids.

Good luck Mal! :)

Thanks BEG. I guess my other issue is the NRA *duck*. Not historically one of my favorite organizations. *duck again*. Is there any way to like guns and still not like the NRA? I guess what I really mean to say is I don't necessarily agree with some of the motives of the NRA...but am I a hippocrate if I end up enjoying guns?

I guess it depends on what those motives are that you disagree with...and if they are valid. Make sure YOU research the NRA, don't take someone else's word for what they say or don't say, stand for or don't stand for. As long as you do your research and are truly informed I don't think that makes you a hippocrite at all.

Oh BEG. I've done my research. Mallory and the NRA would not be very good friends. Ummmm. I'm a pacifist, thru and thru. Not one of the things high on the list of NRA members. We don't exactly try to keep the peace in the same way. I'm sure I'll figure it out.

This is prolly the strangest moral dilemma I've ever been in...but it would mean a lot to hubby. I'm sure I need to talk to someone other than him who doesn't have any personal motives to get me to have guns in the house.

I guess growing up with them helped me..I was born and raised in Charleston, SC..and by the time I was 5 , I had either a fishing pole or a gun in my hand everytime I was around my grandfather...I like target shooting and go to a range whenever I can....I also travel a lot, alone..I take off anytime someone suggests something fun..and having a gun makes me feel safer, even though I have not had to use it...Although that last trip to Panama City???? Scary ...I called the FHP from my cell and they stopped the guy that started following me after a pick up attempt at a rest area...and he was a very nice dressed guy, driving a Lexus...started touching my hair and then my nether regions and I hightailed it to my car immediately!

Find out if there is a range in your area? I started with a Kel Tec 32 and it is a nice , small gun for starting out..Or staying with if you are comfortable with it.......
I also have a gun safe that no one but me has the combo to..and I keep the only key to it WITH me at all times!

i am a responsible gun owner and avid shooter,i fully support gun owners rights and am against gun control for the most part and yet i do not belong to the NRA.they are almost as fanatical as the anti-gun nuts are.the only reason i am not actually against them and feel they are needed is because in order to counter the hard core, lying, devious anti gun lobby we need someone who is just as hardcore for our rights.the gun control cannot be argued with using logic and common sense so that is where the NRA comes in.
so yes,you can enjoy guns and the shooting sports and not support the NRA.just keep in mind that if not for them we may not have ANY rights as gun owners right now
