Just curious:
Do you own firearms and for what purpose do you own them: (hunting, target shooting, sporting clays, shooting events, home defense etc..) What is your favorite weapon (that you will admit to owning)

The guns belong to hubby. He has shot competitively in the past.
I don't know what he has, and really don't care. Shooting is too
noisy and abrupt for me. I'd even prefer quiter fireworks.
And then
he complains about the volume I like the stereo at!

I'm an avid gun owner. Mostly for hunting and target shooting. I do keep a loaded Taurus .357 in my night stand, just in case.

We have a very large collection of weapons, mostly for display. Our house looks like an armoury....only a few guns, mostly swords, and other hand-to-hand combat weapons.
I do have a friend who owns a cannon!

I have enough self-awareness to know that I would never, ever shoot anyone, so I will never have a handgun.
My grandfather was a butcher, and he had a rifle that he used every day. I do want that gun.

In the immortal words of Abe Simpson: "how can you have a house without a gun?"

Speedo Bob is a man, not a bear. You shouldn't tease him about being so hairy! (j/k)

If you would have shot that crouton, you wouldn't have broken your fork on it

Never owned a gun, never wanted to. Before my brother retired and moved to Florida he belonged to a gun club. My father used to go shoot with him sometimes and they always tried to get me to go with them. Standing in a cinder block building shooting a gun at a piece of paper hanging against the wall, to me, is about as exciting as watching paint dry. To each his own.

My husband owns several guns (six or seven, I think), but he never uses them for anything. He gets them from his dad, who is an avid gun collector. He has more than 400 guns (and other types of weapons) in his collection. He has some that are worth thousands of $$$. They take up an entire room in his house--it is quite impressive.
He's told us that someday it will all be ours. Not sure what we'll do with all of those guns, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it, I guess.

Similar story - I have a fairly wide variety for sporting use, personal protection, and other collectable pieces. I grew up in the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas so I started hunting with my dad at a fairly early age. Favorite right now is my mini-14 which also happens to be my most recent purchase.
I believe in the 2nd Amendment for many reasons. I certainly respect people who do not wish to own guns as long as they understand that it is their choice and not mine. I have friends that hate guns and do not feel comfortable with them. As for me, the last thing I would ever want is to have to shoot someone out of self-defense, but if someone broke into my house, I would do whatever was necessary to protect my wife and three young children. Wouldn't want to have to do it but at least I have the option as a law abiding citizen.

As an avid outdoorsman I have many firearms. Before I had kids I kept one beside the bed. Now I have them all put away unless I go hunting or shooting. I have kind of migrated away from rifle hunting lately and hunt deer and elk with my bow primarily and then my muzzleloader if I am unsuccessful. No real reason, just a phase I am in.
