Why not?

I'd have to say my mother's homemade cheesecake is the best I've ever had but there's a place on LI called The Whistle Stop that makes a pretty good one. Or at least they used to, I haven't been there in more than 10 years.

I have yet to meet a baked cheesecake I didn't love. (And can we put the Whistle Stop at the top of the list of places to visit?)

Poor Auntie! Between this thread and a friend of mine mentioning that he's bringing gumbo to a party on Monday night, I think I might be dehydrated from drooling!!

the best cheesecake I've had (though my experience with really good cheesecake is limited...) was at a small place in Times Square (help me here, New Yorkers.... it was across the strees(s) from the Doubletree and next door to a martini bar...). it was steep in price, but *delicious*!

I want to say Lindy's, but I can't be sure. I'll walk by there on my way back to Penn Station tonight and report back tomorrow.

I think it was Lindy's! Maybe you'd better make sure their quality isn't slipping...
