All time Worst Beer

Post by diamonddan »

We've heard all about the best, now it's rot gut time.

When I was in college, we used to buy a beer called CANADIAN ACE (brewed in New Jersey) it cam in half gallon glass jugs $1.49 Not sure if Toby and Willie would give that to their horses.

Anything in a green bottle.

And I know I'm going to get some hate mail for this one... but I *despised* the beers at Kelly's in Key West. :-?

When I was in college I worked in a supermarket that sold its own private label beer. I don't remember who brewed it for them, and the supermarket chain went out of business while I was still in college, but it was just awful. It cost $0.69/6 pack (remember, this was more than 30 years ago) and it was overpriced.

Another bad one is Schmidts. Starting with the "c", take out every other letter and look what you're left with.

When I lived in Orlando, and money was tight ( college aged) we used to buy beer at Walgreens. they had a beer called Brgaide ICE. It was vile but you could get a case for $5.00. Couldn't beat it.

Growing up in Philly the tw beers my grandfather always had by the case were Schlitz and Shmidts.
When we were younger we used to buy RedWhite and Blues. Case $5.00 I recently figured out why I didn't like beer when I was younger when I started drinking more $$$ beers and realized I do like it.

Cave Creek Chili Beer.

I like beer and I like chili peppers, but this was really a bad beer. The only beer I ever remember not finishing. :P

Utica Club , or Miller.

I toured the brewery in Utica , NY, many years ago..and they gave you 2 free beers at the end of the tour..and I didn't finish the first one. Opted out for the root beer...

Burgie, Max, Schaeffer, and the always popular, Old Milwaukee/Milwaukee's Best... any, and all of these were for sale in MT grocery stores for the incredible low price of $2-$2.5/six... you know God hates you when the Burgie starts to back up on you during a float trip...

all time worst beer

Post by unclejohn »

Several years ago, a friend and I put our change together and bought a 99 cent 2 liter bottle of "Big Jug Beer". It was horrible, and even for as bad as we wanted some beer, neither of us wanted a second drink of it.

Stroh's was always pretty rank, as was PBR, the Beast and Old Back-talky. Natty light was passable after already having 5 or 6. Back in college it was more about quantity, not quality.

I'm not real "into" beer, but I try to be open minded. I tried some banana'y beer (some fancy schmancy thing) and IT WAS ICKY. Can't remember the name of it though...

I second Utica Club. We use to call it "The Club". I remember a few times when it was all we could afford...It almost took the fun out of drinking it was so bad. :o
