Guidelines for the South

After visiting various other threads discussing what is and what ain't the South, I've decided to start make a list of rules for what is Southern. Please feel free to add your own, but please try to keep it semi-friendly and not attack anyone (unless they are Yankees).

In the South:
1.) First and foremost, you have to be below the Mason-Dixon line. That's the Ohio River and Mississippi River for those who slept through History class. Typically, your state was also part of the US territory in the 18th Century. (Sorry FL, but you are not part of the South as you weren't purchased from Spain until 1819.)

2.) You always capitalize South when discussing the area. It is out of respect and honah (Yankees, please see sig line).

3.) We have kudzu; bonus points if its growing on your house. http://www.cptr.ua.edu/kudzu/

4.) Appalachian has TWO P's and its pronounced "ap-pa-latch-en", not "apa-lay-shun".

5.) You know what "The War of Northern Agression" is and that's how you learned it in school.

6.) There is tea and unsweet tea. You also know that tea is not just unsweet tea that you add sugar to. Blue, pink, and yellow packets don't belong anywhere in the kitchen unless someone has diabetes.

7.) Cornbread does not have pieces of corn in it, nor is it sweet. Cornbread for dinner means cornbread and milk for dessert. YUM!

8.) And as the song says, no R's or G's.

More to come later, but please feel free to add your own. :D

Aqua, I will certainly give you SEC football and accents. However being from the hills of Tennessee, I have trouble with the rest of them :P

I just remembered another one that Hank Jr. said best:
"We say Grace and we say M'am and if you ain't into that we don't give a damn."

Go through the smog, around the 4 million pot holes, behind the snow blower and bags of road salt, next to the people that are rude and cuss every third word. However it might be a little difficult since all the snowbirds have returned home from their winter in Florida. :P

I'm a sarcastic little SOB, ain't I?

Don't come down South, buy a house for one half of what you'd pay elsewhere, start up a business to take advantage of "these redneck dummies", get drunk and shoot off your shotgun at your neighbors....then be surprised when your 'business' fails because of lack of customers and your neighbors don't bring over food and help you when your car doesn't start. This happened in my neighborhood....the guy and his three women (never did find out if one was his wife, others were his daughters or whatever) left town after finding out we weren't a bunch of backwoods, barefoot, dumb inbred hoohahs. In the words of Bud from "Urban Cowboy", some of us got smarts real good! :o

I would like to vote the same thing. But I do not believe that these directions apply to my area. So what are they for the mountain west?
