This is WAY too hard....
Let's simplify...
From Central Florida up to Maine....
Jamaica...Bahama's , St Johns....
Newport and Venice, in California....
Does England count??? (Cornwall, and the coast there...)
I guess the correct answer for me, is not enough. There is still so much to be done!

I just sent you a PM. My parents/aunts/uncles/cousins/grandparents grew up in that area. Still have family in Spirit Lake, Estherville, and Emmotsberg.66horse wrote:WOW, how is that you came to be at lake Okoboji?buffettbride wrote:I've never seen the ocean, so I can say I've never truly been to the beach...the closest I've come is Lake Okoboji in Iowa. I did fly over Lake Michigan once though.
Just wondering... was born there... lived there till 8... spent every summer there till 16.... go back about every other year.... whole family but Mom lives there....
it always amazes me how many people have heard of it... but in Denver how did you come to be there?

I grew up in S. FL. Also lived in Ft. Myers for a time. Lived in KW as well.
Thus, I've been to beaches up and down both FL coasts...Sanibel/Captiva, Ft. Myers/Naples/Bonita Beach....Key Biscayne/SoBeach/Miami Beach Of course Daytona. Jupiter beach is one that I fondly recall.
Been to all the beaches in KW (LOL....if you've been there, you know). Lived on Smathers beach.
Been to a couple of NJ beaches.
My favorite beaches, however, have to be the "deserted islands". When I lived in Miami, we used to go hang out at BeerCan Island. When I lived in the Keys, I knew dozens of little islands that we could just anchor up to and hang out for the day.
I now live in Pittsburgh, and I miss the beach. Both of my kids were born here. I always forget that their idea of the beach is far different than my idea....they have only been to the beach twice (and that is counting the "beach" on Lake Erie, which I don't really count).
I can't fathom not having ever been to a beach. Hell, 1/2 my blood is seawater.

I grew up on the beaches of Lake Huron (Canadian side--the one with the great sunsets.) The Great Lakes count!
Also have been to beaches on Lakes Ontario, Erie, Michigan and Superior (those are cold) and many beaches on smaller lakes, but we won't count all of those: highlights in that category include Farren Lake (where my cottage is) and Lac de Divonne (in France, where I learned to kayak by teaching kids how).
On the Mediterannean: Ste Maries de la Mer, St Raphael, St Tropez (just the beach!), Venice (or is that the Adriatic?), Alicante, Calpe.
On the Channel or North Sea: Zeebrugge, Robin Hood's Bay
Eastern side of Atlantic: Normandy & Brittany, Canary Islands
Western side of Atlantic: Basin Head and other beaches of Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick; Cozumel and Playa del Carmen, Mexico; Speyside, Tobago; Bavaro and Punta Cana and Bayahibe and Saona Island, Dominican Republic. AND Biloxi!!!
Eastern side of Pacific: Vancouver and Vancouver Island (Tofino), San Diego CA, La Jolla CA
And there's so much still waiting for me .....

I’ve been to at least 30 beaches along the East Coast, a few in California, and some in Puerto Rico and the Bahamas.
I live in Virginia Beach and I go to the beach along the Chesapeake Bay every day (as long as its not raining really hard like today) even in the winter.
