Being a Floridian...I still say Alpine Valley is the best concert experience one could have. Great theater and awesome tailgate parties make it a place to remember. I've been twice now, and plan on making it an annual experience. The people are great, the music is always top notch and you're close to Chicago, Milwaukee, and lots of outdoor recreation. It's always a great mini vacation for me.

Jones Beach, without a doubt. I've been to Great Woods and it was OK but I didn't think it lived up to the hype. Just my opinion, but I'll duck just in case.

but since that ain't gonna happen. We saw him at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta with Mac and a few of the band about 800 people there
Hey 12vmanRick,
I was also at the Variety Playhouse for that show. Surprise visit indeed! What a night...I was about halfway back in the audience, a guest of Mr. Finger's Taylor!

OK, I'd be remiss in my duties if I didn't stick up for my hometown venue-Star Lake Ampitheatre in Pittsburgh.
They always open the gates early, tailgating is GREAT (almost anything goes), the view of the stage is good from pretty much anywhere, and the place is located in a semi-rural area with no heavy traffic, airports, or other modern distractions.
Of course this assessment should be taken with a grain of salt since I've never been to a show anywhere else

Been to several shows in various venues and i would have to say the Indiana shows are the best. I have came to the realization that outdoor shows are by far the best imo... Have never been to Alpine so it looks like that is my next trip to see the man...

Ok, I do need to qualify this by saying that I haven't been to Apline or GW or JB (YET!!).
But I have to say Schottenstein in Columbus- the crowd was rocking, and more importantly (to me at least), I never saw a line for the bathroom longer than 2 people, inside or out, the port a johns were clean and had toilet paper and didn't smell bad. And security was totally cool for the tailgate.
But Margaritaville Orlando was definitely cooler, I was standing right under Jimmy with only one person between me and the stage- I was close enough to be able to read Levi's on the red tab!!

like alot of others i have been to numerous venues over the years, from new orleans, NYC, southhampton, vegas, pittsburgh, denver, boston, blossom, west palm, camden,
overall party-great woods
best scenery-the gorge
best atmosphere-south beach/nikki beach club, under the stars with about 200 other people.
just my 2 cents

Coco-
the Margaritaville Orlando show was awesome and will prolly never be beat as far as us being that close.
My personal fave for as tailgatin' would be the amphitheater in West Palm.
The TD Waterhouse in Orlando was great in my book, not a bad show for indoor and the parking lot was much wilder than I thought it would be.
Nissan is also up there, I remember the sound being great.
My least overall fave would be Tampa.

I have only seen Jimmy at Great Woods so I have to say that is the best. The next best place I have been was Madison Square Garder(The Who/Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes). YOu just get the feeling in that place that it is a cut above the rest, everything is first class and theres a lot of history too. The worst is Gillette (Foxboro) Stadium. Saw Springsteen and the Stones there and the place is just too dang big. The Fleetcenter and Providence Civic Center arent bad either.

Well, and having a hottie to hang out with in line didn't hurt!
I would agree on Tampa. I wish I would've gotten to see a West Palm show, but I think those are probably done. And the tailgate at Orlando ROCKED (But Cols. was just as cool, and like I said- no bathroom lines)! Their club made things so easy and fun, and anytime you can walk to and from the hotel, it's a good thing.
Any way we can twist your arm for JB@JB?

I've been to concerts at MSG and the sound is awful. And if you're unlucky enough to be in the upper deck at the far end of the arena you're so far away from the stage you might as well be in another city.

I would have to say anywhere that I have a seat under cover since it seemed that for like 3 straight years everytime I went it rained. Thankfully by then I had pavillion seats. Other than that I would have to say Merriweather Post.

You're right about standing in line with a hottie (the hottie being you of course)
I've heard Jones Beach is FINtastic.
Twist my arm, break my leg!
I wish I could do another show soon but I think I'm not gonna be able to leave the state Florida for quite some time following the move.

Having only seen JB at Great Woods (it will NEVER be the Tweeter Center to me) 9 times, I look foreward to seeing how different Fenway will be for the Sunday show. I enjoy going to Great Woods, great site lines, nice screens for the lawn, not too bad getting out of the parking lot afterwards.
As far as Foxboro goes, I've yet to get to Gillette but I saw the Stones and Pink Floyd and Dave Matthews at the old stadium and thought all three were great. The old stadium sucked but the sound was great. As far as the Fleet Center goes, it's hit or miss. The sound can sometimes s***, I left a Dave Matthews show halfway through because the sound was AWFUL!! But at the same time, Neil Diamond was great there and the benefit they did for Timothy White a few years ago was just tremendous.
