License To Chill Debuts at Number 1

From Hits Daily Double: "GRAND BUFFETT"

Jimmy Buffett Makes the Top of the Charts His Margaritaville, With The Roots, A Cinderella Story and Notorious B.I.G. Reissue Also Bowing Top 10.

There’s no better way to chill in the summer than a margarita, a cheeseburger and a new Jimmy Buffett album, debuting at #1 this week, with more than 230k in sales. The latest from the chief Parrothead, for Mailboat/RCA Nashville/RLG, features Buffett singing duets with some of Country’s biggest stars, such as labelmates Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney and Martina McBride.

Hastings’ George Deahl, hoping that Martha Stewart makes him his own personalized license plate, emoted: "What a stroke of genius, crossing Jimmy Buffett to country with all of those superstars! Easily #1 with us this week. Buffett has always had a very reliable fan base, but it just got bigger by a lot!"

Mailboat Records and Billboard are both confirming this. License To Chill will debut at number one with more than 230,000 copies moved in the first week.

Wow! Congratulations Jimmy.

I'm missing something-which category is the album in? Country?

I could be wrong because I haven't bothered to look it up this early, but the impression I got last night was that it was number one on the combined charts... like, it's number one.

Hot damn tamale man!!!!!!!!!

I am so thrilled for Jimmy ~ it has to warm his insides and feel GREAT!!!!

I bet he wishes his mom and dad could share in the accomplishment. Sure, he has had the love and support of parrotheads for years, which he embraces graciously. But I would think you would strive for commercial success and awards after 30+ years in the music business.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How does someone in his 50s suddenly get commercial success? Amazing. I'd credit his obvious talent, but it has been proven time and time again you don't need talent to top the charts.

Way ta go Jimmy!

Way ta go Parrotheads for helping get him there!!!!!!
