Post by a1aara »

Did anyone hear Howard and Robin discussing Buffett and the fact he debuted at #1?

I didn't hear it, but I know Stern doesn't like Buffett's music. I'd be interested in hearing what he had to say. Sure it wasn't good.

Stern was basically saying that he doesnt really know anyone who is a Buffett fan so he was suprised that his record was so popular.

About 10:15 this morning:

"Howard talked about Jimmy Buffett who has put out another album. The album is the top album of the week which was a suprise to him. He read a promotion for the album and wondered who actually likes that guy. Robin said she doesn't know any Jimmy Buffett fans. Artie said he knows a couple... and they work at the Post Office."

Actually, if you are going to do the "Cross-over album"... Gilbert teaming with Jimmy on Desperation Samba could be interesting. :D

Maybe the Post Office reference is about the potential of Buffett fans "going Postal" when what they really mean is "going Coastal"?

well I really don't know anyone (with any smarts to see past his sexism & sexploitation) who is a Stern fan so I wonder why his 15 minutes aren't up.

I heard it, I thought it was really funny, they also said that former show member Jackie Martling is a huge Buffett fan. It was on around 10:30, the first item in the "news".

I'm not a fan, but I'd say that considering his ratings, his longevity, best-selling books, a tv production company and a successful film under his belt, I'd hardly lump him in with pseudo-celebs that shouldn't qualify for their 15 minutes of fame.

Excellent point SA, he often claims to be the King of All Media, now maybe hes not the king, but music is about the only area he has not flourished, 2 best selling books, his television show is the highest rated show on E!, a popular movie, and he has been one of the highest rated syndicated radio personalities for almost 20 years! You may not like him or his humor but you have to respect his longevity and ability to make money in many different areas. I myself am a huge Stern fan.

technically, so did I in that it is on Showtime in some rotation I have yet to figure out. Of course, I have never sat down and watched it from start to finish, so I have no idea how the pieces fit together
