James Taylor albums: What ones do you have/what to get next

Post by Parrot Monkey »

IMO, James Taylor is a superior songwriter who has talent to write songs in quality and quantity. He also has what has to be the most relaxing singing voice out of anyone. There has yet to be an album of his that fails to impress me. So far between my dad and I we have Greatest Hits, JT, Never Die Young, New Moon Shine, Hourglass and October Road. Oh yeah, I also have his two live DVDs, Live at Beacon Theater and Pull Over.

Just wanted to ask everyone what their favorite album by JT is and which one I should get next.

I have greatest hits, greatest hits 2, and october road. My favorite is the greatest hits, first one. Do you know which CD, if any has I Will on it, at least I think that is the name of the song? Have you seen him in concert, that is one entertainer that I would love to see in concert.
My whole world lies waiting behind DOOR #3! In the meantime, I am just sippin' on a margarita.........

I've always been a fan, but don't buy a lot of cd's (of anybody). The one JT cd I have is "October Road" and I LOVE it. To me, it's classic JT-laid back, but a little humor thrown in . There's a neat duet on it, too, with Mark Knopfler.

I've seen James Taylor live many times. He is great. He's another guy who could hold 20,000 people in the palm of his hand with his guitar, and stories, and songs.

Just ordered Sweet Baby James (his 3rd album) and Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon (4th) off of Tower Records. SBJ is only $7.99 at Tower! Couldn't pass that up.

I plan to eventually get every one of his old albums on CD.

The only one I have is the one with the song "Captain Jim's Drunken Dream." ("In the Pocket")?
I bought it only for "Captain Jim", but ended up liking ALL of the songs on the C.D.
I'll definately be buying more in the coming weeks.

If you are forcing me to choose, Mud Slid Slim and the Blue Horizon would get my vote. Although I enjoy listening to all of JT's music.
