I can only imagine what it is like living there. I'm going from one extreme the next.pirateat30 wrote:I agreeLIPH wrote:I'm FROM here and I sometimes stand in awe of what I see.MelliJellyBean wrote:I know Im going to be standing in Times Suare in AWE the whole first day Im there. hehe![]()
Especially on days like today
I grew up on a farm in a small town of 400 people and now I'm going to be in NYC. I think it's going to be a little overwhelming at first, but in an exciting kind of way!

I think NY gets a bad rap. Sure it can be overwhelming because of the size and the crowds and everyone always seems to be in a hurry. But NYers aren't all rude and obnoxious (only some of us are like thatMelliJellyBean wrote:I can only imagine what it is like living there. I'm going from one extreme the next.

I think the size of the place is overwhelming more than anything. Heck, I was overwhelmed by Morgantown when I first came here...now isnt that crazy?

My firm had its Christmas party at the Marriott Marquis 3 or 4 times and my law school's alumni association has a cocktail party there every year. It's a real nice place and very centrally located. I pass by every morning when I'm walking to my office from Penn Station.

Try Simply Pasta (http://simplypastanyc.com/media/simplypasta.html) at 120 West 41st Street for excellent Italian food at a reasonable price. Be sure to get the Raspberry Crumb Cheesecake for dessert.MelliJellyBean wrote:Thanks again for all of your great suggestions!
I leave tomorrow (Thursday) morning at 5 am and will arrive in NYC around 1 or 1:30 p.m.!!
What places are there to eat around the marquis? I know I want to try that mexican restaurant that was mentioned.

LIPH, you ARE going to offer to entertain her, aren't you?
He's a stalker, but he's harmless. Seriously though, he really is one of the nicest, most fun people I know, so if you can talk him into hanging out with you, do it! (Oh yeah- LIPH, everyone who was at the Rathskeller on Friday asked about you, and a lot of comments were made about how much fun you are.)

OMG you guys I had the best time in NYC!!! What a beautiful city! I walked around Manhattan FOREVER and I only saw a fraction of the city! We went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, walked through central park, went to Little Italy, Chinatown and shopped in Soho. We went and saw a comedy club show, watched WICKED (which was like one of the hardest tickets to get on broadway right now!) and went up in the Empire State Building!
I know there are sooooo many more things to do and I can't wait until I go back next year!!
Guys, WICKED was absolutely amazing. Maybe it was the fact that it was my first broadway show, but it was soooo awesome. I loved it! Wish I had seen several more broadway shows while i was there (didn't want to wait in that LONG TKTS line though!).
So I just got back from Ocracoke. Weather was definitely there this week and we had an amazing time! (Despite the sunburn and a "few" mosquito bites!)
