An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life.

M14-year old niece won a radio-station contest. Her prize was an autographed CD from Hilary Duff, and a trip to LA to see Hilary's debut concert. Included was the chance to meet and have lunch with Hilary.
Sounds like a wonderful thing for a kid, right?
Wrong.
The trip out was fine. Sarah was really excited, as it was the first time she had flown anywhere (her mom is afraid of travelling, so they never go anywhere.) She and her aunt checked into their hotel late on Friday night.
Saturday afternoon had the "lunch with Hilary Duff". Ha. There were a couple hundred other contest winners there, too. The "lunch" has been described to me as a cold appetizer buffet that had enough food for about 50 people, not several hundred.
As for meeting her. Duff was apparantly in the room for about 30 seconds, walked in, waved to everyone, and was hurried off to her next "appearance".
Pictures? Ha. No cameras were allowed.
Sarah did get to go to the concert. Of course, no cameras there, either, and the seats weren't that good.
On the plus side, I guess Sarah did get to meet Haylie Duff, Hilary's older sister, who is a musician as well. That was just coincedence, though. None of the other contest winners got that chance.
I'm not knocking Hilary Duff, she probably had nothing to do with anything. It's her promotors. If anything, she's guilty of not recognizing what she's doing wrong. She's too young to know how much she disappointed everyone.
Oh, and she's still waiting for her autographed CD.
At least she got a free trip to LA out of it....

Was that the Radio Disney contest? Just curious because we listen to Radio Disney almost non-stop and I've always wondered about those contests.CaptainP wrote:M14-year old niece won a radio-station contest.
