Definitely. A lot of Americans have given their lives to protect this right, the least we can do is exercise it.
Bush-Cheney will get my vote once again, no other country seems to want to stand up for what's right in the world. I just can't help feeling we're not as bad off as a lot of people (cough-media-cough) seem to want to convince us we are; it's much more difficult to wade through propaganda-masquerading-as-news to try to figure stuff out than it should be. My opinion only, of course.

I vote every year also. Always have and always will. Still taking in all the facts and weighing the decision at this point.

I've only missed one election (city council) since I turned 18. I proudly voted for Gore in 2000 and will vote for Kerry this year. I do not side completely with a party, but tend to learn more Democratic on the national level. I vote more Republican on the local level, it just always seems to work out that way.

When I turned 18 I was living abroad and didn't get to vote in the first presidential election or any for that matter until I returned. I know I could have sent off and voted by mail, but I wasn't even registered. My dad was in the military and never voted feeling that it was wrong for him to choose his boss (I never understood that thought, but he sure earned the right to believe it!) so voting was never a learned thing in my family.
Since then, however, I have voted in everything. Even dragged my kids with me to vote. Sometimes it takes a while since I've never been a one switch puller . . .
Uhhhhhhh, yeah, I voted in 2000 . . . .
Thank you Clayton, but shouldn't the tongue lashing take place in the VT?

I vote every time, and still remember the excitement of voting the first time.
I also have worked as an election judge for about 12 years (one of the few under the age of 70!)-and encourage others who can take the day to be part of the process to do so. Also did voter registration in '92 though I have not done that since. THe best thing is talking to young people, or newly naturalized citizens who are voting for the first time; they, especially the latter truly recognize what a privilege it is.

I've seen people, not a lot but some, at the Democratic convention wearing ABB stickers. Anyone But Bush. If that's how they feel I guess that's OK but shouldn't you be voting FOR a candidate, not AGAINST the other guy?creeky wrote:Is it kinda like it is out here ... you are voting for the lesser of two evils , or "better the devil you know"

Of course regardless of Mexicooker's thoughts, I'm grateful to live in a country where folks have the right to complain, regardless of whether they voted or not. The president isn't just the president of the voters, he's the president of the entire nation and, as such, anyone is free to criticize or praise him.
The notion that just because someone didn't vote means their opinion is invalid is positively stupid and nothing more than an amateur trick to attempt to discredit someone when lacking anything of substance to rebut with. Besides whether I vote or whom I vote for is my own business.
Frankly a better litmus test for the validity of an opinion would be how informed the person providing it is. Any idiot can pull a lever... very few of those idiots actually take the time to develop an informed opinion about a candidate.

The point is, if you are too lazy to vote, then you do not believe that your vote matters. Thus, shut the he** up.Key Lime Lee wrote:We get the political system we derserve, I guess....LIPH wrote:I've seen people, not a lot but some, at the Democratic convention wearing ABB stickers. Hmmm... I must have missed it in the Constitution where one's right to exercise the first amendment was tied to one's exercising the right to vote...PHBeerman wrote:

It's a stupid point... always has been, always will be. Because I haven't been to a Buffet concert this year and haven't bought a record, does that mean I can't comment on anything Buffett either?
