Brent Burns ..I was browsing one of the FYI cd stores in the mall today and I was lookin in the clearance rack today and I saw one of his cds callled livin the life Jimmy Buffett only wrote about .It was only 2 bucks but I didnt know how good it was...anyone ever hear or own anything buy him

For two bucks I would have bought it.

The song "livin the life" is cool, even though it makes some fun of Buffett. Notice though, that he misspells Buffett (Buffet). You can go to www.brentburns.com and check out some of his stuff. The songs "Livin in Limbo" and "Livin the Life" are cool.

You can also watch his video for "Down in Paradise", which is a really cool song, but not much of a video.

He also explains the writing of all of his songs on his website, and explains that he is a BUffett fan and does not mean "living the life" to be insulting at all.

I'm sure that Mr. Buffett is not insulted, since Brent Burns regularly plays at LUlu's. He also plays at the meeting of the minds and usually plays somewhere during mardi gras.

I think that you can sample all of the tracks from that cd on his website as well.

I have a couple of Brent's CD's.

I met him when he visited Australia a few years back - real nice guy and a GREAT songwriter!!

I met Brent at the last MOTM. He did a great show. It was fun and very funny.

I have that CD and I like it a lot. Vacation is pretty good, Livin' the Life is good too (I don't find it offensive at all) and some good other songs to. I'll have to check my FYE for some good $2 CDs

At last year's "Meeting of the Minds", they gave away copies of the "Tropical Nuts" CD in the goodie bags at registration.

I liked it OK. Most of the songs are humorous and a lot of them revolve around the theme of being p*ssed off about a girlfriend, wife, women in general, etc. Makes me wonder if Brent Burns didn't go through an ugly breakup with someone right around the time he made the CD...there's a real bitter undercurrent to some of the songs.
