Try it again. As we mentioned before, great Carribean sound, and a few hidden gems on this one.

I too am going to have to relisten to DSTC. I have only listened to it a few times, and that was during the first week it came out. If I recall I loved "Public Relations" and "Kinja."

To me, the song "Island Fever" perfectly captures the feeling I had when I realized I was a Parrothead.

I hardly ever listen to DSTC, but I had read the book so I "got it" when I first heard it. Except for a few songs, I just don't like the writing. Sounds too much like a cheap high school play. But read the book, it makes the CD much more understandable.

I'd say my least favorite is Beach House. I love "I Will Play for Gumbo", but after that, nothing jumps out for me.

Yikes. Those are my 2 favorites. :o
Okay, okay!
I CONFESS. I bought "Before the Beach" when I saw it on sale at Best Buy about a year ago.

I bought 'Before the Beach' also .... early on when I was starting to really learn about Jimmy's music. I think there is some interesting music there but it would also be my least favorite album.

I have never read the book but DSTC is one of my favs ... :) :)

Well... I bought it and listen to it a couple time and I would have to say "Pickin' on Jimmy; a bluegrass trubute ti Jimmy Buffett"

:o :o Oh you mean one of Bubba's records???

well... I have thought about it and I would have to say BHOTM quite frequently gets skipped...... :-? I like all the songs but only REALLY like a few of them. So, it just never mkes it into the rotation.... :-?

There I said it ...... are you happy now??? .... :P ;) :)

LTC, without a doubt. You people mentioning stuff like Off to See the Lizard, Don't Stop the Carnival and Somewhere Over China have been hanging out with Ricky Williams too much...

BHOTM is probably the worst...You have to have something you like the least. Followed closely by about half of LTC..the other half is alright :pirate:

Without a doubt High Cumberland and Down to Earth. I bought those on my track towards owning every Buffett album, those and the comp Before the Beach are just not Buffett in my opinion. They were played when I first bought them and that was the last time they were played.

I'm really surprised how many people say "Hot Water" I've always found that to be one of my favorites. I would have to vote for "somewhere over china"

Beyond a shadow of a doubt: License To Chill! Will the real Jimmy Buffett please return? Or should I say Marvin Gardens?

I too, was on a "mission" to buy every Jimmy Buffett CD ever made awhile back. I like HW and embarrassingly enough I like most of BOTM.
The verdict is still out on most of LTC. I am giving it an honest try but, it is taking longer to really like than any other.
As for DSTC, I, after reading this thread, am going to listen to it again and see if I like it any better. Before reading this thread that was my least favorite. So we'll have to see. Have a great day everyone!!!
