Got an e-mail something about a class action settlement against paypal. IF you opened a paypal account between October 1999 and January 2004 you're entitled to part of the settlement apparently.

The e-mail I got is REALLY long so I'll just give the info website..
http://www.settlement4onlinepayments.com/

And a link to the PDF file explaining in more detail:

http://www.settlement4onlinepayments.com/summary.pdf

i haven't read the whole thing yet, but anyone else heard about this?

EDIT!!!: YOU CAN ONLY CLAIM THIS IF YOU LOST MONEY DO TO PAYPAL'S NEGLIGENCE.

If I'm reading it correctly, page 2 of this document (http://www.settlement4onlinepayments.com/poa.pdf) says that by filling out the short form you will get $50... Who knows.. Doesn't hurt to fill out the form I guess!

I got the e-mail. You have to go fill out the forms. Amazing how PayPal doesn't show you when you signed up for service.

BTW, I was part of the class action lawsuit against the CD Industry for charging too much. I got my check a few months ago. Surprisingly the check was for $13.99 (or the cost of a new CD). :o

HOLD THE PHONE PEOPLE!!!!

Here's the first paragraph of the Short Form... Apparently their negligence had to directly affect you in order to file.. DAMN!! :x
You can make a Short Form Claim if, prior to February 1, 2004, PayPal caused you to lose money because of any of the following:

You experienced an unauthorized or incorrect electronic transfer to or from your PayPal account;

Your PayPal account was improperly restricted or access was improperly limited;

You requested information from PayPal about an account restriction or limitation or unauthorized transfer and you did not receive a satisfactory response; and/or

You experienced or reported an unsatisfactory result from a dispute with PayPal involving a chargeback, a refund, a buyer complaint, or PayPal’s Seller Protection Policy, Buyer Complaint Process and/or Buyer Protection Policy.

Fill it out if ya want, but they've got that "Under penalty of purgery (sp?)" line thrown in there so ya might get yourself sent to prison... :P
