When you buy a new car, you don't get a list of all the designers, engineers, and laborers who combined to build it, do you?
sigh...

No, but its different with music. If they were credited in the first place, their names should not be removed from the album.
Then I see it as up to THEM to see it restored. To be frank, nobody cares. Just like the river of names you see at the end of a movie. I don't care who the Key Grip and Best Boy were. The only reason they are included is because the unions have contracts with the producers that say they will be.

I would agree that there are a small segment of people who might be interested in who played the drums on a certain song, but not having that information doesn't reduce the enjoyment of the song. Only the truly anal would care who the engineer was.

If I were you I would take up Lee's offer and post a link to it here. If you ask nicely Jim would probably set it up as a sticky. That would get you more results than your constant harping on the same subject across different threads. I bet most people would be willing to help you out that way. Make something as simple as possible and the response will be surprising.

This lack of care business is just so sad…

It doesn’t matter who cares or who reads the credits, the names should be there somewhere. ESPECAILLY if a media product (movie, CD, video game) is re-released, the people in charge of the reproduction should see that all the original credits are there. If someone wasn’t credited in the first place, that’s fine. This case is different.

I don’t see myself as truly anal when I want to know who the engineer is. Maybe I just want to see what other bands he worked with.

Then again, I sit through movie credits even if there is no video or song going on behind them. I consider them part of the movie and don’t leave the theater or power off my DVD player until they are completely over and I don’t turn off my CD player until the digital LED display says the CD is completely over. What does that tell you about me? :D

No, that I am very anal.

(for some reason I don’t feel comfortable typing that word. Why does a human trait share a term with…) :o

I think you're right, and I would love to see all of the stuff that used to come with the record (back when album art used to cost more to produce than the record, to paraphrase Buffett on the MMIM booklet), but I also sincerely doubt the jerks will ever do it.

And don't think of yourself as being anal, just think of it as being strong willed and interested in the finer details. :P

Another great point. Jimmy states in the MMIM booklet that the photo shoot expense for SOASOAS came out of his own wallet. I wouldn't think he's too happy with what happened to it all...

Well, the expenses on the rest might not have come directly from his wallet, but they certainly came out of the money he would see later. It seems like I've read other things from him lamenting the loss of all of the liner notes- just in general, not even for his stuff only. I don't remember if it was in APL@50 or BBB&B.

I don't believe it was in the BBB&B PH Handbook, as i read through that many times recently. I have to go check A Pirate Looks At Fifty.

A big reason (I believe) that I don’t have many supporters seems to be because people are giving MCA this benefit of the doubt that if you shrink album art to fit CD inserts and tray liners, the print will all become unreadable to the human eye. I must say, for the last time, this is no excuse for not including the material and I don’t think they should get away with it for that reason. Take a look at The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper CD. Keep in mind all the lyrics to every song was printed on the back cover of the vinyl jacket (it was the first album ever to include printed lyrics, as well as a custom inner sleeve BTW), but did they keep it that way for the CD release? Absolutely not. No one would want to bother looking for a magnifying glass to be able to read it all. Did Capital use that as an excuse not to include the lyrics? NO! They reprinted them inside the booklet, using the same font as was on the vinyl back cover. Just the track listing remained on the back, with the same color background. Even with all the tweaks, its still remains true to the vinyl’s art scheme and I am satisfied 100% with what Capitol has done.

This would have to be done for many of Bubba’s albums, and AWSCAPC is a good example.

Believe me, I hate going on and on about this and lobbying. I realize it’s getting me nowhere, but I just want to make sure people understand this.

Now I do. This is a war of caring vs. not caring.

Or is it that I don’t have a clue that posting and posting does nothing? I’m well aware of that, I just want to make sure everyone knows what the complete scenario is. But it seems no matter how many details I reveal, even after I stated the third party tapes issue (which has to do with the sound, not the packaging) people still don’t care.

That's a movie line I felt appropriate.

What I implied by it is that MCA has already issued the cd's without everything you're looking for. For many reasons already given, the biggest being money, the smallest being indifference by most consumers, no matter how many times you re-state your opinion of the injustices, MCA will not be changing them to everything you hope for.

I was referring to your war with MCA, and stating my opinion that it's a losing battle. Bluto may see differently however, but he's dead, so even he can't help rally your troops!
