OMG- Go stand in line, camp or whatever to get tix! I have been a Poco fan since their first release in '69(I think, there was a lot of substance use back then), but I still pull out some of the early LPs. JOHN

Who is playing with POCO...Jim Messina? Richy Furay? Tim Schmidt? Others?

I agree...stand in line for this one. There was no better band in 1973 that POCO...

I had the chance to meet Kenny Loggins backstage recently here in Phoenix. He played at the Celebrity Theater...a theater in the round venue seating about 3,000. I asked him about the POCO rumors and he confirmed that he was heading up to SF for the show...don't be surprised to see Loggins sitting in on this one.

The best I can tell, there are three original members left in Poco: Rusty Young, Paul Cotton and George Grantham. I was curious myself since they did a date at a local music festival here last year and you always wonder who's still around. You can find out more info here:

I'm more of a fan of their early work than some of their latter day stuff. One thing is for sure, they're certainly one of the more underappreciated bands around, especially when it comes to receiving credit for helping to pioneer the "country-rock" sound back in those days.

I've been lucky enough to see Poco 5 or 6 times over the years. The most interesting show was them opening for Eric Clapton in Greensboro in the early 80's.

Last I heard, Jack Sundred from Great Plains was playing with them now...Great Plains is now defunct, of course, but they were one of my favorite serious country bands a while back.

There's a poster someone made showing all the connections between bands like Poco, The Eagles, Flying Burrito Bros., and all those guys...I think you can link to it at L&Ms Fastlane. It probably takes up an entire wall (or two)...and it keeps on goin'.

Poco was here in Springfield last Thursday and unfortunately George Grantham suffered a stroke during the 1st song. The prognosis is good per the message board on the poconut web page. The other 3 played an accoustic set for about an hour and they played a scheduled show out on the Cape over the weekend with a backup drummer.
