I saw Johnny Unitas and Raymond Berry, one of the greatest QB/WR combinations ever, in the days before the west coast offense and its 3 yard passes.
I saw the single season home run record broken 3 times - Maris, McGwire and Bonds.
I saw Babe Ruth's career home run record broken by Hank Aaron.
I saw Sandy Koufax put together 5 of the greatest years a pitcher ever had in the 1960's.
I saw Wayne Gretzky, Bobby Hull and Gordie Howe play.
I saw Bill Buckner let a ground ball go through his legs in the World Series.
I was expecting you to mention Ali. I am not old enough have ever seen him fight.
I did see Ali fight but I was never a boxing fan.
And how could I have left out Bobby Orr?
If I added things I wasn't interested in -
I saw Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor, Oscar "The Big O" Robertson, Bob Cousy and Bill Russell play.
I remember John Wooden's and UCLA's unprecedented, and probably never to be matched. run of NCAA basketball championships. What was it, 10 championships in 12 years?
I remember Ali BEFORE he was Ali......
I have actually had the pleasure to know Raymond Berry my whole life!!
I remember when Nolan Ryan was a rookie.
I remember the Beatles on Ed Sullivan.
I remember Janis Joplin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmi Hendrix and countless others that went before their time
I remember the sad times too.....
Hey what does all of this have to do with sports?
nothing but I just wanted to throw it in with sports cause I think my generation was very lucky in so many different ways!!!

Yes sir..were my heoroes..hated Mercury Morris with a passion,
Then Csonka came to the Giants and teamed up with Joe Pisarcik for "The Fumble". Extra credit for anyone who remembers the player who recovered the fumble and returned it for a touchdown.

Herman Edwards, the Jets coach, recovered the fumble. He was a cornerback for the Eagles.
