The Luckiest Generation?

As I sit here watching the Bridges shootout, I am as always amazed by how lucky I am to witness the greatness of Tiger Woods. That got me thinking. I think I belong to the luckiest generation in regard to sports.
I have been lucky enough to see Wayne Gretzky play hockey his entire professional career.
I have been lucky enough to have witness Walter Payton carry the ball and John Elway bring his team from behind to win.
I have been lucky enough to see Michael Jordan do what Michael Jordan always did.
I have been lucky enough to see the home run record broken *Twice*
I have been lucky enough to watch Lance Armstrong win not only the battle of his life, but then the tour de France *6 times*
I realize that every generation has their sports stars, but man what a great run we have had.

...and for me, "the shot" by Keith Smart in 1987, and Jack at Augusta in 1986. Sports- the ultimate reality show.

I saw Jimmy Brown, the greatest running back in the history of football.
I saw Johnny Unitas and Raymond Berry, one of the greatest QB/WR combinations ever, in the days before the west coast offense and its 3 yard passes.
I saw the single season home run record broken 3 times - Maris, McGwire and Bonds.
I saw Babe Ruth's career home run record broken by Hank Aaron.
I saw Sandy Koufax put together 5 of the greatest years a pitcher ever had in the 1960's.
I saw Wayne Gretzky, Bobby Hull and Gordie Howe play.
I saw Bill Buckner let a ground ball go through his legs in the World Series.

I was at the games and still have my ticket stubs from Mark McGwire's 62nd and 70th home runs. Better days have yet to come.
Oh, and I saw Kevin Costner pitch a perfect game in a movie one time, too.

I saw Bobby Orr change the way hockey is played.
I saw Mario Andretti, A.J. Foyt, and the Unsers.
I saw Pete Rose become the epitome of desire and hustle.
I saw Barry Sanders and Walter Payton.
I saw Larry Bird and Magic Johnson.

Also got to see the greatest NFL game of all time on January 2nd 1982 in the Orange Bowl when the Dolphins lost to the Chargers. Not happy about the result but what a game!

When Orr would swing behind his own net to pick up the puck all 15,003 fans in the Boston Garden would take a breath, waiting for him to do something wonderful. The only other player I've seen have that effect was Gretsky.
Bourque was the classiest player to entertain us in Boston. His Cup was justice being served.

I did see Ali fight but I was never a boxing fan.
And how could I have left out Bobby Orr?
If I added things I wasn't interested in -
I saw Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor, Oscar "The Big O" Robertson, Bob Cousy and Bill Russell play.
I remember John Wooden's and UCLA's unprecedented, and probably never to be matched. run of NCAA basketball championships. What was it, 10 championships in 12 years?
