Let's mix a few college games in with those pro schedules. This is starting to look like the NFL forum. They already have one of those!

That's because this is a tailgate forum - not a college forum - they already have one of those too

An NCAA Tailgate forum - check out the first post - But all are welcome, no doubt!
I told you, I'm a self admitted, college football purist (though I do sneak North for a 'Skins game or two)
See your Badgers have UCF for an opener followed by UNLV - that'll be a nice ease into the season - You can REALLY tailgate at those types of games - we all have 'em.
When does it get cold enough that you don't have to ice down your beer at the tailgate? Or do they move inside somehow?
Cold enough? Never. Inside? What's that.
At least UCF and UNLV are better than VT's Fla. A&M, W. Mich and Duke
Not having Marcus Vick is going to hurt VT a bit this year
I think not having Marcus Vick will only help Tech this year. He's been a distraction and was not slated to be the starter. The two QB guys who were to have been red shirted are coming along nicely. I imagine one still will be redshirted and one will play. Randall is one heck of a QB and should only be better without having to look over his shoulder at Vick. Vick had moments of quality play last year, but most of them as a decoy or as a receiver. Reference his lovely game vs. RUTGERS (yes, Rutgers) last year. Gosh-awful. By the end of the game, whenever he came in, the Rutgers fans were cheering for him and chanting "MVP, MVP" - Beamer actually apologized to Randall at the start of this year's practice for making the mistake of playing two QB's last year.
Vick needs to grow up on and off the field.
As for our "patsy" games - as I said - everybody has 'em. And we can't help Duke - ya gotta play who they give you in conference.

HOWEVER - it'd be nice to have those warm up games PRIOR to USC. And I wouldn't say UCF and UNLV are better - just different!

(And you forgot Wake Forest and UNC!)
But - you got me thinking...... Pulling out my Lindy's.....
Let's look at it this way. Wisc has one team on it's schedule that is ranked higher than it in the preseason (OSU), VT has 7, including #1 USC as an opener!
Or look at it this way - if you toss out our I-AA game with FL A&M (which is fair b/c we play 12 games this year and I'd dare say USC makes up for that AND FL A&M were to have been I-A this year but didn't get there so anyone who is I-A and scheduled them gets an exemption - not our fault)
Playing teams in the top 10: VT - 2; Wisc - 1
Playing teams in the top 20; VT - 3; Wisc - 2
Playing teams in the top 30; VT - 6; Wisc - 3
Playing teams in the top 40; VT - 7; Wisc - 5
So, looking at the 11 games Tech and Wisconsin each play: In the pre-season, Tech's opponents rank from #1 to #95. Wisconsin's from #9 to #96. Our average ranking is 41.19, Wisconsin's is 50.37.
We could go on and on with the computer rankings and all that jazz....
Bottom line - everybody has the patsies, including a few within their own conference. I dare say we in the South tire of the Big 10 and Big 12 harping on the strength of schedule issue when we all know how it works.
We can make the numbers say whatever we want. It will be fun to see how the final polls come out - I dare say Wisconsin will be well ahead of VT.

You'll have to share with me how you did that! I lost all of the Redskin tickets - 50 yard line, 6 rows behind the 'Skins bench. I'm groveling for a game or two this year so I can watch Mr. Gibbs at work one last time!

Funny you say that. I went to E&H for 4 years plus visited almost every weekend my senior year in high school. I'm trying to remember if I ever went to any games.

Usually I just stood in the field tailgating. I mean why give up the alcohol when you can just look over the rope fence (yeah, we're high tech) and watch the game.
As for ETSU, stick with the E&H games. For the last 6 years or so Emory has averaged a higher attendance at the games. Plus, field parties are always better than trying to find your way around JC.

I cannot wait either for that game reed. We got stuck with the vanderbilt game last year and it stunk, it was 48-0 at the half. We got lower level 2nd row seats for the Gators and I am trying to find a decent hotel room as I take a break to write this now.
Sunday after the game we are going by cherokee again to the casino there and have a little fun before heading home. If you enjoy a little gambling here and there reed i suggest you go, plus the watered down mixed drinks are FREE

I can't remember exactly, but I think a tire iron was involved

. It does have it's downside - I have to communicate with the p**ck every year to go through the selection process - very brief emails indeed!
