Anyone view "October Suprise" off RadioM?

Post by Ragtopnewbie »

I watched the movies on the FL elections AND "October Suprise", which is the theory that Bush has already captured Bin Laden but is waiting for the "Right time" to announce it. My bet is October as well .... as a last resort before the election. But it really makes you think. What is your guess? Any thoughts on Katherine Harris as well? What a thought provoking movie....

Radio Margaritaville..... David Crosby (which suprised me) and some others put a movie together - one was regarding Osama already captured and the other was on Katherine Harris and the whole Florida Election Scandal...

Bush is being pressured from all sides to pull ads that question Kerry's service to his country. Even John McCain called his tactics into question. Bush pulled the same stunt on him in 2000.

I can't see how anyone who DODGED service (Bush & Cheney)could even begin to
attack someone who volunteered and served in combat.

You'll notice that Bush's only offense toward re-election is to demonize Kerry.
...oh, and keep the country in fear by issuing very timely terrorist warnings on the heels of bad news for the NeoCons. Now, that's leadership!

I would have to say in all fearness, both candidates have taken there fair share of shots at each other. I personally think it takes away from the election, because instead of choosing between to candidates sets of ideas, you end up choosing between which candidate you think is the least sleazy. Kinda sucks in my opinion.

Unfortunately that's what politics has become the last few years. It seems like every candidate is telling us not so much to vote for them but instead "Don't vote for my opponent because he's an a$$hole." I'd rather vote FOR someone than AGAINST the other guy.

My son has been studying in Japan since Sept. He told us in late Feb. Early March that it was widely reported in Japan that Bin Laden had been captured.

I also remember a day around that time, that on cnn.com for a "very" short time his capture was reported there also.

Aahhh! The "good ol' days"! But was it really like that,
or did it just seem that way to a couple of idealistic kids
like us?

I think it was definately more that way. Peoples veiws have seemed to become more and more extreme and with false information at your fingertips via the internet it is somewhat understandable. If you dont really know politics and you are seeing that Bush is the reason for 9/11 or that Kerry sides with Sadaam Hussein then your views could become extreme. And the more extreme the view, I think the more extreme someones attempt to campaign against someone is going to become.

Didn't they think that we had him right around then, and then he slipped away or something? I mean, it would give the shrub a boost right before the election, but wouldn't it silence a whole lot of critics to have it known that we have him now?

But I agree on the sleaziness of everything, but I really think we're just better informed now than we used to be.

I think it really was different because we didn't have all the cable news outlets with their 24 hour news cycle. In the old days they actually discussed an issue for more than 10 minutes. But I think we only have ourselves to blame for that. Like the old comic strip character Pogo said "We have met the enemy and he is us."
