This is the new Subway ad in Germany. Some say it looks like the 9/11 incident. What do you think?

Godzilla was destroying buildings for decades before Al (ci-) Qaeda. It's not like they have a trademark on it or something. (Oooops! Better not give them any ideas. Think what terror they could wreak with a team of hydrophobic lawyers.)

On the other hand I am offended that one of my primary food groups should be so slandered...
"Cry Havoc, and loose the legal pitbulls upon those XXXXXXXX... !"
"Grrrr"

Your right, you would think they would find some other way to advertise and get the message across that does not include any possible controversy. I guess there is a reason they only put the ads out in Germany in kept them out of North America!

Seriously? 11 people think it's reminiscient of 9/11?

It's a play on Godzilla... there are no airplanes... those aren't the twin towers (there's at least 4 or 5 buildings in the illustration)... we weren't attacked by a cheeseburger...

A little bit, kinda sorta. But mostly it just demonstrating "heavy" food.

Perhaps it helps to understand the context - these were illustrations for ads for Morgan Spurlock's "Supersize Me", a film about American Fast Food Culture. The German distributors wanted to advertise in Subway restaurants and the illustration is meant to show Fast Food rampaging through america. There's also one of a fat Statue of Liberty.

There's clearly more than two towers in the illustrtation and the cheeseburger isn't attacking from the air, he's attacking from land. I still think that saying this is reminiscent of 9/11 is a HUGE leap.

9/11 is and always will be an extremely touchy subject for me. Some of my friends died that day, and friends of friends. Other friends saw things that will haunt them forever. As a direct result, I and tens of thousands of other military members left home for as much as two years.

All that having been said, and as touchy as I am on this issue, I still think it looks more like Godzilla than 9/11. And once it's put in the context of Lee's last post, even more so.
