I remember Mailboat saying something a while back that the live album would have live video footage of one or both of the shows on it. Maybe they figured that the enhanced CD is not as good as DVD. Anyone have Mini #1 in a jewel case? I found it in a jewel case and it was two dollars cheaper than the big dumb stupid oversized regular DVD case version.
The cost of making the live album is no more or less than making any other studio album with exception to the artwork - especially since it's the same cover on all of them. Printing two CDs is the same whether there's two songs or twenty a disc. Of course, the marketing is nill and that saves money. The other live albums have each sold (last I saw) around 35,000 copies. I can't recall which show has sold that many, not all of them have, but as I recall they've all sold okay. I'm sure they've paid for themselves.
I've held out from buying the live albums. Tuesdays Thursdays Saturdays was a decent album but too predictable too. I don't need Cheeseburger even though it's hilariously fast. When I saw that the Hawaii shows were the last of the Tiki Time tour and that they were being recorded and then I saw the set list, well hell, I think the set lists from those shows are better than some of the earlier shows. Maybe some day I'll get the other live albums but for now, one will do.
If the DVD is anything like most of what's on Mini #1 he should quit releasing them. It's not very good. I only bother to watch Five O'Clock and Fins. Certainly it's not as good as it could be. No real easter eggs. With all the room that isn't taken up there should be an additional hidden ten songs or so. And the bio pages - can anyone read that print?

You made lots of good points in that post Tommy and I agree.
I hate to be repetitive and negative, but in reality, quite a mess has been made of the JB discography/filmography. What I’m trying to say is, many of the products that have been released over the years just don’t do Bubba justice. Whether it be the infamous MCA CDs, the fact that Live by the Bay and Tales from Margaritavison are only available on the dinosaur VHS format, the fact that there are so many compilations of the Down to Earth/High Cumberland Jubilee tracks where people forget what albums the songs are even on, the fact that there are numerous live albums being released with very similar setlists, the fact that there is NO full length DVD while plenty of concert footage is available, the list goes on. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the Mini Matinee, but doesn’t it seem like a tease when it’s over? Doesn’t Mailboat see the potential $ that could be made form a full length concert DVD?
While I will buy Hawaii and enjoy it and the companion DVD for what it is, I really hope that some day the messes I mentioned above get cleaned up. Imagine going into a store seeing remastered discs w/ full artwork, LbtB and TfM on DVD, NO DTE/HCJ compilations and a brand new concert DVD all in one trip to the store!
I really hope the day comes where the wonderful music of Jimmy Buffett is done justice on the store shelves, I really do.
I know I will get blasted for being negative in this post, but I know everyone deep down probably agrees in some way. Remember, I am NOT complaining about anything Jimmy himself does, It’s the marketing that’s the issue.

Yeah, yeah... It's the same old thing and the DVD is only a halfdozen tunes. I'll buy it the day it comes out. Because, Know what? I've been listening to Jimmy for 25 years and even if I'm lucky he'll only be doing this for another 10 years. It's like a good liberty port shipmates, enjoy it while you can. Cause we put to sea with the morning tide...

Has anyone seen this dvd to give a review? I bought the mini and thought it could have been a lot better. But, something is better than nothing at all. A full concert dvd would be great!

I didn't think it was negative at all... but I guess us "young ones" think alike... As for a full concert DVD, I see it as a possibility, but I don't get my hopes up.

I think given Jimmy's tendency to try and capitalize on every money-making opportunity available that there is plenty left in the vault. Not looking forward to Jimmy retiring, but when he does, why not release a new live DVD from a previous tour to fill the void left by him not touring?
