Ok, I'm looking at three bikes this week. Any comments (good and bad) would be helpful.

1.) 2001 Yamaha R6

2.) 2002 Yamaha R6

3.) 2002 Suzuki GSXR-600M

The second two have some fairing damage, but they are $700 less than the first one.

I love how they get as close to 50cc as possible. Above 50cc, you're required to have a license in most states.

I love it when inexperienced riders start out on these kinda bikes...it keeps the organ donor program goin'.

OK, out of smartass mode (for now). How much experience do you have? Have you ridden enough to have reasonable confidence that you won't drop this bike? If so, the undamaged one is well worth the extra $700 (it'll cost more than that to fix the others). If you think it's gonna get some more battle scars, buy the beater.

Oh, and in my opinion, that bottom is just plain fugly. Must the wheels :o

I've ridden a 500 a couple times, but this will be my first 600 and I had not had any safety classes before hand. And I agree, the GSXR is fugly (wheels and pegs), but its $1000 less than the first one. :-?

But you'll spend that grand on paper bags to put over your head so nobody sees you on it

No, I'll just tow it out to the middle of no where so that I don't see anyone I know. :pirate:

I fail to see the logic here. the VROD and the bikes you are currently looking at couldn't be any more different. Just because it's got the factory HP, the VROD is no sportbike (too much rake, forward controls, etc.)

I realize its nothing like the above bikes. I like the crotch rockets and love the VROD. I do not love the VROD's price sticker. So out of the two styles, my bank account is picking my bike.

Do you like power cruisers in general, or is it just the VROD that has caught your eye?

Just the lines of the VROD; something about it screams at me.

I dig the technology of the powerplant, but they sure picked a lousy chassis to debut it in. Oh well, maybe I can make it the basis of a future build.

I don't like the VROD up close. From a distance it looks ok but up close it looks like a Buell with more junk on it
