How are you going to be using this bike? Will you be riding with a passenger for more than an hour at a time? Don't buy solely on the impulse of what looks good - you need to find something that suits the purpose you have in mind.

No passengers for some time. I want one to drive around my suburb and/or Auburn. I like the shape and fit of sport bikes as opposed to standard cruisers. I won't be doing any long journeys; no more than an hour or so tops.

You really shouldn't have much trouble finding a decent bike for $6k. I like the top one of the three you've got listed. I'm out of the crotch rocket phase but it was fun while it lasted. My favorite has always been the Honda CBR line. If it were my money I'd be looking for a good deal on a used Harley, but that's just me. Let us know what you think of the 3 bikes you've listed so far.

Well this is why I showed you that SV650. The handling is wayyy more forgiving than a full blown sportbike. Remember you can graduate once you get back in the action. If you hop straight on to a 650 R6 you are asking for trouble. a little wobble, too much of a crank on the throttle, strong brakes all = face first....just be sure you are ready to handle what you decide on. From and experienced rider....I just don't like to see people get hurt that aren't doing something stupid  :P

So, what did you like out of the 3?

I found a ZRX1100 today that I could steal for $4k....

Now I gotta find a buyer for the Miata so I can buy another Miata and the bike.... :-?

Still shopping... :-?
I haven't had a chance to see the first one yet. The second one is ok, lots of cosmetic faults, but it runs well. Gave up on the third one as it was not pleasant dealing with the seller.

Why can't someone just offer me a free bike and save me the hassle of shopping? :pirate:

Ok, I'm going to heed some advice given on the board. What do you all think about a 2000 Nighthawk 750?

Excellent choice. Still a sporty ride but way more versatile (and comfortable) than what you had in mind. I owned a Nighthawk through college and never had any problems with it.

I'm thinking this may very well be THE bike. The only things I know I'll have to adjust to is the weight, power, and width of the gas tank. Everything I read on it seems to be a pretty good bike.

I'm thinking $3400 or 3500. He's asking $3600. It only has 5600 miles on it and the tires are almost brand new.
