I am thinking of going back to grad school for my mba. Anyone out there already done this and can give me some advice as to whether it is worth it or not?

A couple of my friends have gone through Averett College (Univeristy?) w/ their online program for the mba's. They seem to be pretty heavy on the "math" part lately, fyi.

mba's arent what they were about 10 years ago. from what i've read the schools with the best job hiring / salary rates after graduation are still the tier 1 schools, harvard, warton, stanford, etc.... the lessor known schools seem to have had a significant dropoff in job/salary rates. i'd be sure to do a lot of research on the school and program before writing the astronomical tuition checks you're looking at.... also a big factor is what area you're interested in finance, marketing, M&A, international, etc.... from what i've read you can't swing a stick without hitting an unemployed M&A MBA grad.

fortune magazine has had a number of articles over the years concerning the "success rate" of business schools. i'd start there. i would image the other business periodicals like forbes etc. would have similar info.....

I got my MBA and PhD from the School of Hard Knocks

To apply, just quit your job, start a business and have fun...

The degree my take awhile to earn, but you'll be better off then having attended any University MBA program anywhere...

Good Luck

I have an MBA but I don't use it at all since I went to law school.

I'm in a public services management masters program at DePaul University right now. I'm receiving a phenomenal education and I love the program and faculty.

Entirely up to you... we both have BA’s and work side by side with MBA's and PhD’s...and if $$$ is the problem, well, we are so much happier than most. Hopefully it's not a status thing and more of a self improvement thingy! 8)

Get a job with a good company. If getting an MBA is so important to them for you to move "up the ladder" tell them to pay for it! It happens all the time.
