well its ok.
i have enough fun for the both of us.
Would you like to come with us poohbear? My parents tell me we went to Disneyland when I was 2. My older sisters were 7 and 8 at the time. I remember NOTHING. I am very excited.
...just trying to figure out how to meet some BNrs along the way. I warned hubby this may happen
sure i wanna go.
we are thinking of going back in a few years.
we went in 1998.
me hubby and his mom and dad went.
My family has been 3 times and we stayed at the Contemporary each time. We always face the Lagoon side. You just can't beat the convenience of staying on the monorail for visiting MK and EPCOT. It also makes it easy to hop back to the hotel and rest or use the pool in the heat of the early afternoon.
Cool thing to do: The resorts on the lake with MK offer pontoon boat cruises to watch the MK fireworks. I forget the price but it includes soft drinks and champagne for the adults. After the fireworks you cruise around for an up close and personal view of the Electric Water Parade. Unforgettable!
We booked the Crystal Palace character meal for 3pm and had the place almost to ourselves.
Buy a couple of different guidebooks for various opinions. I know it sounds like work, but you need to plan out your days in advance to get most things in.

We took our 6 1/2 year old last fall and stayed at the All Stars in the Dalmation Section. She was just beside herself. You're really not at the hotel very much, and she could have used a whole day just to run around there, swim, explore everything. So much to do! Kids that age are so easy to please. There are so many different Disney resorts, since you're doing this for your daughter - which is exactly the way we did it, from the munchkin perspective - look through them all with her favorite things (and your budget!) in mind. You'll have a BLAST!
There are a lot of great Disney message boards out there too, AOL has one, Passporter has one. OH - and if you haven't been there yet - www.MouseSavers.com has all the latest discount codes! I couldn't have done the trip without them!
Now I'm askeered!!! Exactly this time next year we will be on a plane to Disneyworld. I hope a hurricane doesn't attack us!! Just makes me very very nervous!!

I really don't want to change dates tho!
Orlando is probably about the safest place to be,
it's so far from the coast. And the chance of storms
like this at any given time during hurricaine season
isn't all that great. I've lived here 55 years and never
had more than a power outage and some messed up
trees.
We once took our very young kids to Disneyland and never told them. My daughter asked us while walking down main street,"Are we at Disneyland or somewhere?"

OK. So Orlando got hit... Well, that at least reduces
the odds of it happening while you're there next year!

Thanks Des. That's kind of what I'm hoping. But if you knew my luck......
But the Mouse was fine...We went up on Sunday...lotsa trees down and signs toppled, but there was power and the parks were open. We ate at the Rainforest Cafe without a wait, at Downtown Disney...First time ever, without waiting!!!
ANIMAL KINGDOM LODGE
this is the best hotel in Orlando in my opinion, its quite pricy but you can get really good rates if you are from florida. . . other than AKL, Wilderness Lodge almost just as good, its just missing all the animals . . .AKL is just so great because wild animals come really close to your balcony, its just so cool

Now you're actually making me rethink going back to Disney.
REAL animals are much more pleasant than standing in lines
in the heat. Maybe I'll just check into the Lodge and sit on a
balcony with my camera for a few days while you children
play with Mickey.

I haven't really been paying too much attention to this thread, but was the reason you didn't want to go to Disney because of the threat of a Hurricane?? If that was the reason, thats so ironic, because we were supposed to go last Friday just for one day, and coincidentaly that was the day that the Hurricane hit!!!! they closed the parks, but luckily we "reasoned with the hurricane season" and didn't go up to orlando for the day, so we stayed home in West Palm. But honestly, the chances of a hurricane hitting orlando again are so slim . . . and if it does, you get all of your money back, which we did
I'm hoping for some Disneyworld and Vero Beach testimonials. We are going NEXT August and are planning on surprising my daughter with the trip for her birthday.
If you have been to these places...
In what hotel did you stay?
What did you like the best about the trip?
What did you like the least about the trip?
How long were you there?
What would you do differently?
What non-Disney things did you do?
I worked in Walt Disney world for about 7 years so I'd be happy to help you with any questions. I worked at The Grand Floridian but am fmailair with all the resort's hotels. PM me if you have a question abotut eh palc eitself as my experiences would be different than most..
