Don't even get me STARTED! Every time I look at my pay check and imagine my taxes going to the prison system I see red. Prisons should be self-supporting. And I LIKE chain gangs! What ever happened to public floggings?!?!

AAAaaaaargh!

I was thinking the same thing about Lacy Peterson I feel for the family

Yep, no blame here just kind rubs a few of us the wrong way that this gets publicity and others don't. Agreed on missing children too, whoever said that earlier.

I say turn the muderers over to the family and let them decide what the fate is OR kill the killer the way he/she killed their victim :pirate:

I still like my idea for a lotto for "tags" look at the money the state
could make.

That's getting awfully close to natural law, which really doesn't work.

Life in prison should be life in prison - no exceptions. If you pre-mediated and then acted out a murder frankly you're not fit to be a member of society.

But then I think TVs in prisons is ridiculous too.

as are law libarys, and weight rooms.

Life in prison should mean exactly that.

Inmates unhappy about the lack of televisions and weight rooms should contact the transportation department and inquire about the "early dismissal program."

Jeff Dahmer was murdered in prison. Serves him right. I think that they should put all murderers and rapists in one prison, one with no guards, and no rules. Just let them kill each other off.

You commit the crime, you'd better be ready to pay the price.

But what if you're wrongly convicted?

OK... just to stir things up a little. Doesn't that bring us down to their level? I have always struggled with the death penalty. Don't get me wrong. I hate the jail that are country clubs, espescially for white collar criminals, and the prisoners who think they have the same rights as outside citizens, but there has to be a better way. Does anyone honestly believe that the death penalty servers as a deterant? Would it be not better to make criminals look forward to 40 years of tough labor?

The death penalty most definitely DOESN'T serve as a deterrant, at least according to the majority of studies ever done. Most folks committing crimes are either a) not thinking they're going to get caught or b) not thinking.

So why have the death penalty then? Don't we need some form of deterant?

When enforced, the death penalty prevents recidivism.

Gonna pipe in here
The reason no one worries about the death penalty is simply put
there two groups 1 like was pointed out I'll never get caught/my lawer can beat up their lawyers/I wanna die anyway. you get the idea
2. is by the time they get around to zapping me I may beat the appeal
or will die of old age any way.

the appeals process needs to be streamlined. If you did it and were
fairly caught fine auto matic appeal and in 21 days c-ya

if Dick Tracy was needed to convict you well than slow the train down
and do it right.

PS in like 18 courthouses in america the statue of lady justice has no blindfold. :o

Only problem with life in prison, we pay for it with taxes.
