I have only been on BN for a short period of time, and I have seen Jimmy referred to as Bubba on numerous occasions. This is the only place I have seen that reference.
Is this a BN thing or is it more universal, and where did it come from? Thanks.

Jimmy is refered to as Bubba in the song Gypsies in the Palace. I also believe his sisters used to call him Bubba although I could be wrong.

not really sure where it came from. There is the "bubba" network in Key West which is basically a loose affiliation of locales. If you go down there it is common for the people who live and work there to refer to each other as "bubba"

In the South, Bubba is a nickname that means, brother.
It is used mainly by female siblings referring to the only, or older male sibling.
Living here in the South, I know many Bubbas.
That is why I tend to believe that JB being called Bubba is a holdover of his childhood with LuLu and LaLa.

Where my grandma grew up in Kansas the Bubba thing is
changed to just Bud.. My older sisters rarely call me anything
else. My grandma called all her brothers Bud..
yes got confusing when she was speaking of them as she
had 4 Buds. Is this a midwest thing????
I have heard a few other pholks refer to their brother as Bud
and most of them are from that area.

Me too... wasn't it on LuLu's website? But they called him that because he chewed a lot of Hubba Bubba bubble gum!

My daughter calls her brother Bubba..and I know about 100 Bubba's..
(Unless they are the 3rd...then they become "Trey")
There is a book I read years ago called "New Times in the Old South /or Why Scarlett's in therapy and Tara's gone condo"...It talks about "buddy"...and says Buddy is just Bubba with an MBA...
Btw, I have 2 Uncle Buddy's..
