interesting question. and I wonder if it is broadcast, do the rules about equal time for the opposing party/candidate then apply? I really don't know; just wondering out loud.

Internet radio stations are not required to do the equal time rule because they are not governed by the FCC.

I wouldn't think so. I'm thinking that a presidential address/promotion that gets national priority/airtime over the national airwaves AT NO COST to his/her party is considered to be an event that then would require an equal NO COST response/rebuttal from the opposing party.
But I'll bet that RM would pay the party for the right to broadcast that fundraiser event.
Whether you like the candidate or not, that will still be some good music out there! :P

Internet stations are definitely not subject to regulation by the FCC....as these "airwaves" are not limited as broadcast signals are due to limited frequencies.

I would hope that Radio Margaritaville does cover this show....but am guessing they may not in order to keep the station unbiased.

If you do here this show though, I wouldn't be surprised if you also start to hear "John Kerry for President" ads on the station in the final month or so before the election.

My sense is that if they DON'T cover it, it will be more because it's a private event at someone's house (big house, but...)

Sounds like most of the band will be there too....

Yep. I recall Jimmy saying in a vignette during a Buffett Buffet: “This [RM] is my god d**m radio station and I can play whatever I want!”

The event is a series of concerts in different locales taking place over one week, Oct 1 - 8.
So, if they broadcast, which concert would you like to hear?
I will be attending one of the concerts on Oct. 1, so I would vote to hear the Cleveland concert on Oct. 2 with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band / R.E.M. / John Fogerty / Bright Eyes / Dixie Chicks / James Taylor. This one may also include Jackson Browne / Bonnie Raitt / Keb' Mo' since they haven't scheduled yet for that date.
My 2 cents.

I have long said there are but two musical gods in the world, the Boss and Jimmy...fortunately I don't hold thier misguided politics against them!!!!

I believe this thread is referring to a separate performance,
not the series you are referring to.

Yeah, this is referring to the private fundraiser being held next Saturday in the Hamptons.

Sorry, I hadn't heard about that one. I would still like to hear the Cleveland show.
