Boondocks on Big Pine Key (mm27?)

This is an awesome place to stop on the way to Key West if you are driving down... very tiki like and great food! They always play a little Buffett. It's on the right - look for the thatched roof!!!! Jon and Lani are the owners and they are very cool!!!!

Thanks.

I'll be going to MOTM in November and will add this to my ever increasing list of places to stop and have a beer on the drive down. I'm sure I'll be parched after driving over 7 mile bridge!
Indecision may or may not be my problem....

Holy cow, I can't believe you mentioned Boondocks. My dad still has the beer huggie we got there. Great place to stop. The food was great as well as the atmosphere.

We stopped there on our way to KW last year. Much fun! Their boat drinks are phabulous. Did they still have the pool tables?

Just before the Seven Mile Bridge on the gulf side there are 2 great dives, "Porky's" and the "Seven Mile Grill".
Both places are FINtastic.
Porky's is more rustic/Buffettesque and was my fave.
They also have great bar-b-cue and an old guy called Rocketman belting out Buffett tunes on a 4 string guitar.
"it's crazy and it's different but it's really bein' free"

I almost forgot about meeting of the minds..... They did have a mechanical bull... and Karaoke... and a great Coconut Shrimp app.... I just hope I get down to the Keys again soon - don't think I can make MOTM - my cousin is a comedienne and is performing in Tampa that same weekend - but she is damn funny so it will be fun - If you ever see Suzanne Westenhoefer on HBO or Comedy Central - that's her. Anyway - Boondocks Rocks....
