Any ideas/resources for an exotic adventure trip?

You were on the right track from the outset..
Do like Jimmy would do (..and isn't that what we keep asking ourselves anyway??

) and head to the Caribbean for backpacking/snorkeling/diving.

One flight down there (maybe starting in Puerto Rico, exotic and challenging) and island hop your way across the USVI to my personal favorite isle of St. John.
Boat transfers are not as costly, and if you've got the time...they've got the the beach!

Parrotmedic: I thought about making it a "working vacation", but I've been working my *** off for the last 4 and a half years so I want a relaxing, fun vacation.

Lightning Bolt: Your idea is what I keep coming back to. Jimmy is quite the inspiration. Ever since I stumbled onto his music I've been drawn to the island life, but have yet to visit. I'm exploring Caribbean opitons as I type this...
