I see what you're saying but I again emphasize that viewpoint can't be confined to musicians only. I have an appreciation for music in general even though I can't play a note and readily admit to an artists' contribution to music whether I like them or not. In other words, a deeper appreciation of music is not limited to just musicians.
Of course it's not. I'm speaking in generalities.
Cool, just wanted to be sure you were catching my drift.

Yep... but you're not the "average" music fan... you're more of an afficianado. You see the big picture, not just the charts.

No he's not.

He's saying that if you want to understand how to be a politician, what it takes to run a campaign, and who in the past has engineered the greatest campaign strategies that everyone now uses, ask someone who works in the business of politics. Chances are they can appreciate and understand campaigning and the mechanics of politics in ways that outsiders never would.

No, that would be saying that only musicians and music afficianados are the only ones educated enough to buy music.

My point is, music is just another form of entertainment. Is it entertaining? Yes. Ok nothing else matters.

But what isn't just a form of entertainment? Work, for most people, but people work so that they can pay to entertain themselves.

I'm just saying, name one thing besides work and housing that's not just entertainment.

Politics? Please. Food? I dated a farmer for years, growing it is entertaining, and cooking is entertaining. Just because it's necessary doesn't make it less entertaining.

I understood that much. I just don't understand where this fits into the conversation.

And I grew up on a farm. It is not entertaining when it is your life. It is work.

I worked on several farms while in my teens. Trust me, the novelty wears off quickly, and what's left is hot, unforgiving work that as often as not sends you home at the end of the day with less skin and blood than you had when you showed up in the morning.

Live2Ski- You said music was just entertainment, my point was that everything is, so calling music just entertainment doesn't negate its importance.

I probably had a much different perspective on the farm thing, their only animal was a dog.

PHISHEAD wrote:In the eyes of Alice Cooper, all the rock stars campaigning for Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry are guilty of one thing: treason. The shock-rock legend, a staunch Republican who attends NBA games in Phoenix with Arizona Senator John McCain, was disgusted when he learned of plans by Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, R.E.M. and other bands to hold a series of concerts aimed at unseating U.S. President George W. Bush.

"To me, that's treason. I call it treason against rock 'n' roll because rock is the antithesis of politics. Rock should never be in bed with politics," says the 56-year-old Cooper, who begins a 15-city Canadian tour on Aug. 20 in Thunder Bay, Ont.

"When I was a kid and my parents started talking about politics, I'd run to my room and put on the Rolling Stones as loud as I could. So when I see all these rock stars up there talking politics, it makes me sick.

"If you're listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who to vote for, you're a bigger moron than they are. Why are we rock stars? Because we're morons. We sleep all day, we play music at night and very rarely do we sit around reading the Washington Journal."

This is one of the best things ive read in along time. Every other rock band should do the same. Just because hes a rep dont use that aganist him. hes not out telling people who to vote for. Personally i dont like alice cooper. I will be voting for ALF for pres! KERRY and BUSH s***!
Isn't Alice one of the few guys who would go out and play golf with Pat "Don't like Rock and Roll, here, listen to my Wonderbread version of the song" Boone?

That would seem to be a bit treasonous in my book.

i have personally seen alice dressed to the hilt in proper country club attire suitable for the lily-est of WASP private country clubs. (ok his ponytail kinda gave him away but..)

his tee time was a couple of foresomes after mine :D
