cops, checkpoints, etc.

Anyone know how the cops are around the venue? Not that I'm planning on being stinkin' drunk, but a couple corona's prior to leaving for the drive into the show would be nice. Heard of some venues where the cops set up checkpoints even in bumper to bumper traffic to bust people.

It was subtle, but his second post title clued us in that his first post was Chicago, 28th.

2 things -

1 ) Chicago DOES checkpoints, usually "random" - if you want to believe that!!!

The Tinley Park PD are mainly looking for under age drinking inside the venue....they do have all sorts of undercover people working with Aramark (the food and beer vendor)...outside, in the parking lot, they do not have a huge presence....

If you are not totally obnoxious and obvious, I don't think you will have any problems...

I've also seen the Tinley Park and/or Illinois Troopers doing checkpoints at the expressway off/on ramps, although never for Buffett that I recall, so in case you haven't learned it already

Watch out while entering Tinley Park - do not have open drinks in the car. They have set up undercovers pretending to be trying to sell/buy tickets. They then check out cars coming in and notify police further on down the line about open stuff.

Also...Frankfort, Mokena and New Lenox (towns nearby) all hand out DUI's like crazy so watch out!

Thanx for the info and for those that had the impression that I was going to be butt drunk and driving, that is not the case. Nor am I interested in having open containers in the car.

Main point of posting was to ask about the checkpoints. I've had friends who have had two or three beers and been popped for d.u.i. while sitting in traffic waiting to get into a concert. Weren't even drinking in the car.
