As if NYC won't be hard enough to get around next week, another demonstration by a fringe group nobody ever heard of, making it even harder for people to get to work. Just what we DON'T need.

perhaps not, but does the convention need another softmoney fundraiser by foreign special interests using the memory of Mr. Cash either?

You can choose not to go to a fundraiser. You can't choose not to be inconvenienced by a demonstration if it's in the neighborhood where you live or work.

I would say that the folks holding the fundraiser are equally to blame for this...

and I am amazed that they are going to be allowed to demonstrate at all; the crackdown on authorized "free-speech areas" toward the extreme margins so Shrub doesn't have to lose his Potemkin effect is getting ridiculous.

I just find it funny that there is an event hosted by Sothebys (an auction house for the affluent) to celebrate a country star who broke all the rules and sang about the hard times on the farm.

I guess they are trying to get a portion of the estate. :pirate:

If you go to protest does that mean you have to take off all your clothes?

Only if you're complaining about oil prices

the limits on demonstration areas don't have anything to do with politics. it's a security measure. same kind of limits were put in place for the Democratic Convention in Boston.

Right... "security measure" is a euphemism for it.

people who go to these demonstrations generally dont have jobs so they dont really know about getting to work and stuff like that.

And just how did you arrive at that bit of misinformation? I know plenty of people that protest (including myself) that are gainfully employed individuals. Protesting is not unique to just Democrats either unless you don't refer to abortion clinic bombings as a form of protest.

NYC is expecting more than 250,000 people to be here participating in demonstrations during the Republican convention. Should they be allowed to demonstrate whenever, wherever and in whatever way they choose without regard to public safety? Before you answer think how you'd feel if 250,000 people were headed to your hometown intent on doing their best to disrupt as many peoples' lives as they could for 4 days. Would you still think "security measure" is a euphemism?
